POLICE BRIEFS
POSSESSION OF MARIHUANA
CHARGES LAID
(BLUEWATER, ON) —A traffic stop by Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers this past
weekend has led to charges being laid against both
the driver and a passenger. Just after 8 p.m. on Feb-
ruary 6, 2016 a Huron OPP officer noticed a Chevro-
let S-10 pickup truck travelling northbound on Blue -
water Veteran's Highway with a headlight out. The
officer then turned around and stopped the vehicle
near St. Joseph's.
While speaking with the driver the officers observed
a partial, unsealed bottle of liquor inside the vehicle
accessible to the driver. Also while speaking with
the occupants the officers detected the odour of
marihuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle ensued and the officers found
the male passenger to be in possession of mari-
huana. Further investigation revealed the passen-
ger was currently serving a probation sentence with
conditions to not possess unlawful drugs and further
he was to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
As a result, 20 -year-old Joshua LAYCOX from Blue -
water has been charged with Possession of a Sched-
ule II Substance (Marihuana) and two counts of
Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has been
released from custody with a court appearance
scheduled for February 8, 2016 at the Ontario Court
of Justice — Goderich.
A 39 -year-old female driver from Central Huron was
charged with a Liquor Licence Act offence.
TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS
TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) —A 57 -year-old male
from Kincardine has been charged with Impaired
Driving & Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams
following a traffic stop that took place on Janu-
ary 31, 2016. Shortly before 5 p.m. Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a
call concerning a motorist that was driving in an
erratic manner on Amberley Road. Officers were
nearby and within a few minutes they spotted
the suspect vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup, travel-
ling westbound on Amberley Road. A traffic stop
was initiated and the vehicle was subsequently
stopped just west of Bluevale on Amberley Road.
Upon stopping the driver the officers noted the driver
had been drinking alcohol and was displaying sev-
eral signs that his ability to drive was impaired by
alcohol. As a result, the driver was placed under
arrest for Impaired Driving. He was then transported
to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided
two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer
Technician. Both samples registered over the legal
limit.
As a result, 57 -year-old Dean NETZKE from Kincar-
dine has been charged with Impaired Driving & Drive
Motor Vehicle — Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He
has been released from custody with a court appear-
ance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice —
Goderich on March 7, 2016. He was served with a
90 day automatic driver's licence suspension and his
motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
CURFEW BREACH
(NORTH HURON, ON) — Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) officers have taken a female
into custody after she was found out past her
court imposed curfew early this morning. At
approximately 12:24 a.m. a Chevrolet Silverado
pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driv-
ing Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located on
Queen Street in Blyth. While speaking with the
driver one of the officers recognized the female
passenger in the vehicle as someone that was
currently serving a probation sentence.
A quick roadside check revealed the passenger
was in fact currently bound by an 11:30 p.m. cur-
few. As a result the female passenger was placed
under arrest and taken into custody. 26 -year-old
Catherine CORR, from Exeter has been charged
with three counts of Fail to Comply with Proba-
tion Order. She remains in custody with Proba-
tion Order. She remains in custody with a court
