Ln last Friday
ght, January 29 the
Clinton Radars defeated the
Petrolia Squires by a 4-2 count.
The Radars were missing a
fewkeyplayers, but still man-
aged to manufacture the win.
Goaltender Layne Lavis played
a really strong game between
the pipes for Clinton as he won
his first game as a Radar after
being obtained from Seaforth
in a trade in early December.
He made 23 saves in the net
while the Radars fired 30 shots
at the Petrolia goalie.

second period as he slammed
in the puck from just outside
the crease after Sean Consitt
and Mike Jarmuth had sev-
eral whacks at the puck while
on the powerplay. About 2
minutes later, at 2:49, Mitch
Vandergunst gave Clinton 2-1
lead while Deryk Whitehead
and Taylor Gossett helped set
up the play. But before the
second period ended, the
Squires forward Kraig Wright
tied the score at 2-2 at 19:29.
In the third period the
Radars scored the only 2
goals. At 13:00 steady
defenceman Mike Jarmuth
connected on a bullet slap -
shot from the point while the
Radars were killing a penalty.
It was an unassisted marker.
Petrolia was serving a penalty
when leading scorer Kurtis
Bartliff scored his 31st goal of
the season to make the final
score 4-2. Deryk Whitehead
and Ryan Murphy helped set
up the marker.
It was a costly win for the
Radars as hard-working for-
ward Brenden Dale suffered a
lower body injury. It turned
into a penalty -filled game as
Petrolia had 28 minutes in
penalties and the Radars had
20 minutes.
Clinton travelled to Sea -
forth on Saturday, January 30
to take on the Centennaires in
their final game of the
schedule.
In Seaforth on Saturday, Jan-
uary 30 the Seaforth Centen-
naires handed the Clinton
Radars their second loss of the
season as far as regulation time
goes by edging the Radars 8-7.
The Radars finish the regular
season in first place while the
Centennaires finish fourth in
the standings. That means
Clinton will play Seaforth in the
first round of the playoffs with
the first two games in the best
of seven series beginning this
Friday and Saturday nights,
February 5 - 6 at 8:30 p.m. in
Clinton.
In the other semi-final series,
