Centenaires edge Radars in a shootout Varna News
On Saturday, Decem-
ber 17, the Seaforth
Centenaires and the Clinton
Radars locked themselves in a
9 round shootout to deter-
mine the winner. It was Sea-
forth's Joe Kitchen finally end-
ing the 3-3 contest by deicing
Clinton goalie Marc Nother to
give the Seaforth boys a 4-3
victory. Both Seaforth goalie
Jesse Raymond and Clinton's
goalie Marc Nother made
exceptionally good saves
throughout the well -played
game.
The Centenaires took a 2-0
lead in the first period as Chet
Binning and Reuben Smith
scored goals at 17:49 and
Joey's Corner
Joe Livermore
19:33. Smith's goal was on a
power play.
The Radars bounced back
in the second period scoring
three unanswered goals to
take a 3-2 lead into the sec-
ond intermission. Randy Kil-
burn scored at the 6:58 mark
on a hand slap shot from just
inside the blue line. Tyler
Doig and Bartliff helped set
up the goal.
About five minutes later at
11:54, Luke Vick evened the
score at 2-2 as he converted a
Ryan Murphy pass from just
outside the goal crease. Hard-
working Brendan Dale
eamed a helper on the goal.
Just before the period ended,
Tyler Doig gave the Radars a
3-2 lead after two periods. He
connected on a hard slap shot
from the goalie's left side. Kurtis
Bartliff and Brendan Dale
eamed the helpers.
In the third period, Cente-
naire's Scott Henderson found
the open cage to tie the game at
3-3 at the 3:15 mark. It stayed
thatway until the overtime. A
five-minute overtime of 4 on 4
hockey didn't prove anything
as both goalies made several
excellent saves.
But Joe Kithen, the ninth
shooter for the Centenaires,
finally ended the contest.
The Radars next game is on
the road this Friday night as
they travel to Port Elgin to take
on Saugeen Shores at 8:30 p.m.
The Radars team and execu-
tives would like to wish all its
followers and fans a Merry
Christmas. The Radars next
home game is on Friday,
December 30 when they host
Tillsonburg Thunder.
