Justine Alkema Clinton News Record Every year, the Christmas Bureau provides assistance to families who can't afford to buy Christmas presents for each other. This year, Clinton's bureau was able to help 80 families. The event was held at Clinton United Church and headed by mem- bers Dianne Weber and Rosemary Edward. Weber said they could not have done it without their crew of vol- unteers. She said they had 2-3 main volunteers, and without them, they would have been "completely lost': However they had 33 volunteers total over the two weeks, altogether putting in 683 hours for the cause. "Rosemary and I could not thank our volunteers enough," she reiterated. The group had a spread of six 10 -foot tables full of girls' toys and nine 10 -foot tables filled with toys geared for boys. They also had many racks of clothing and a table with gifts for mothers. Some of the donations they received were worth more money, for example a brand new bike, and those became door prizes. They received donations from vari- ous places. At a Clinton Radars game, attendees brought pairs of pyjamas to donate. The Girl Guides collected 250 pairs of socks at the Santa Claus Parade. Two local dentists donated toothbrushes and toothpaste. Each family who went to the bureau was able to set up a completely pri- vate appointment and was given two grocery bags to pack full of toys. They were also able to take one toy under DERICH Canada's' prettiest town MID -HURON LANDFILL SITE BOARD NOTICE OF BUDGET MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mid -Huron Landfill Site Board will be considering the 2017 Budget and possible fee increases with intention to adopt and/ or amend said budget at a Public Meeting scheduled for: Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Menesetung Room, Town Hall 57 West Street, Goderich (Mrs.) Judy Kay, Treasurer, Mid -Huron Landfill Site Board Photos courtesy of Nancy Parker From left to right are Diane Weber, Pat Shaddock and Rosemary Edward.
