Radars dump Royals 7-1
0 n Friday night,
December 9, the Clin-
ton Radars drubbed the Tavis-
tock Royals by a 7-1 score. Pac-
ing the Radars attack were Matt
Kennedy and Ryan Murphy
with two goals and 1 assist each.
Single tallies were picked up by
Brendan Dale, Mike Jarmuth
and Kurtis Barliff. Radar goalie
Marc Nother played another
outstanding game as he faced
35 shots. The lone Tavistock
goal was scored by Greg Virgo
early in the second period to
spoil Nother's shut out.
The Radars jumped out on
top in the first period at the 31
second mark as Brendan Dale's
shot handcuffed the Royals
goalie. At 11:18 while on the
power play, Ryan Murphy
scored his first goal as his hard
wrist cleanly found the back of
the net after taking passes from
Mike Jarmuth and Luke Vick.
In the middle frame, Tavis-
tock's Greg Virgo scored an
Joey's Corner
Joe Livermore
unassisted marker at 1:46. At
5:36, newcomer Matt Kennedy
scored a beauty of a goal as he
took a pass from Tyler Doig.
Both Doig and Kennedy have
had lots of experience playing
together as they both played
with the Guelph Storm of the
O.H.L. Ryan Murphy gave the
Radars a 4-1 lead at 15:51 as
Kennedy hit Murphy with a
nifty pass just outside the Roy-
als crease.
In the third period, it was all
Radars doing the scoring as
they scored three unanswered
goals.
First, it was Matt Kennedy
giving Clinton a comfortable 5-1
lead. Tyler Doig and Randy Kil-
burn were able to work the puck
around until they found Ken-
nedy all alone in front of the net
for a hard slapper. Once more,
while on the power play, Mike
Jarmuth pounded a slapper in
from directly in front of the Roy -
al's net. Murphy and Vick
moved the puck around to each
other before setting up Jarmuth.
Kurtis Bartliff ended the
onslaught as Doig and Kilburn
earned the assists on the final
tally of the evening. The game
was not a very rough one as
both teams only were whistled
for 12 penalty minutes each.
The Radars next home game
is this Friday night, December
16 at 8:30 p.m. The highlight of
the game will see some luck
spectators bowling for turkeys.
So come out and support your
Radars as they continue to play
excellent hockey and once
again hope to win another Sen-
ior "AA' championship.
