tunity to join fellow Canadian
ruralists at Rural Talks to Rural
Conference coming Sept.
28-30, 2016. From farmers
and artists to healthcare pro-
viders and community build-
ers, this unprecedented event
will inspire collaborative and
creative thinking on rural
issues and challenges.
Please join us for three days
of dialogue, workshops and
exploration focused around
these four different streams:
- Arts & Culture
- Food &Farm
-Community Revival &
Development
- Sustaining & Growing Our
Population
Each of these streams will
feature panel discussions
and presentations on topics
that include giving voice to
our rural stories, building
vibrant rural communities,
creating jobs through pro-
cessing local food and farm
products, engaging our
youth population and so
much more. You will leave
the conference armed with
important tools and infor-
mation to take back to your
own rural community.
What are your rural challenges?
R2R is an invitation to
tackle these challenges
through sharing ideas, estab-
lishing new partnerships,
networking, helping to
inform policy, and creating
innovative strategies for
overall rural health and
well-being.

Meet aur presenters
In 2013, at age 14, Thian
Carmen became the youngest
registered farmer in Nova Sco-
tia. Now he's an honours stu-
dent in Grade 12 who is pas-
sionate about sustainable
farm practices.
Well travelled, well edu-
cated, and passionate about
all things farmy, especially
pigs, Katrina McQuail recently
returned to take on the family
farm.
A passionate advocate for
the arts, Savannah Barrett,
Director of Programs for Art
of The Rural, joins us from
Kentucky, where she was
raised on a seventh -genera-
tion homeplace.
We need to know how to
welcome new Canadians
to our rural communities.
Oliver Pryce, of the New-
comer Centre of Peel, is
the connector.
Leanne Perreault manages
of a partnership between
Stratford and the University of
Waterloo to create and com-
mercialize opportunities in
the digital media space.
