A frisbee golf course for Clinton

Clinton News Record
Clinton will receive a new
recreational activity in the
near future, possibly by the
end of September, and defi-
nitely by next spring. That
activity is frisbee golf, a game
which is quickly gaining pop-
ularity across North America.
The course will include at
least 9 "holes; though those
holes are actually a pole with a
basket made of metal and
chains. Instead of hitting a golf
ball, the player throws a frisbee
at each basket. The course is
being installed by the Clinton
Lions Club at the Ausable Bay-
field Conservation Authority's
park which the Lions maintain
on Highway 4 just passed the
bridge.
Currently, the closest
course is at Camp Kintail,
which is 20 minutes north of
Goderich.
Each player must bring their
own set of frisbees to play at this
course, but the sport is not
played with any old frisbee; it is

played with a smaller, heavier
frisbee which is specific to the
sport. However they are not
expensive and last for many
years. They can be purchased at
specialty stores in London,
online and in other places.
The cost for using the
course itself is by a freewill
donation. The Lions will also
be selling inexpensive year-
long memberships.

Each hole will cost the Lions
around $350 to install, and they
are looking for businesses or
families to sponsor holes. In
exchange, the sponsor will have
their business or family name

inscribed on the respective
equipment.
The Lions are hoping this
addition to the park will help
increase its popularity and
provide a fun family activity
for the people of Clinton and
the surrounding area.
