That activity is frisbee golf, a game which is quickly gaining pop- ularity across North America. The course will include at least 9 "holes; though those holes are actually a pole with a basket made of metal and chains. Instead of hitting a golf ball, the player throws a frisbee at each basket. The course is being installed by the Clinton Lions Club at the Ausable Bay- field Conservation Authority's park which the Lions maintain on Highway 4 just passed the bridge. Currently, the closest course is at Camp Kintail, which is 20 minutes north of Goderich. Each player must bring their own set of frisbees to play at this course, but the sport is not played with any old frisbee; it is A man playing frisbee golf. played with a smaller, heavier frisbee which is specific to the sport. However they are not expensive and last for many years. They can be purchased at specialty stores in London, online and in other places. The cost for using the course itself is by a freewill donation. The Lions will also be selling inexpensive year- long memberships. Justine Alkema/File photo Each hole will cost the Lions around $350 to install, and they are looking for businesses or families to sponsor holes. The Lions are hoping this addition to the park will help increase its popularity and provide a fun family activity for the people of Clinton and the surrounding area.
