Honouring the veterans of the Liberation of the Netherlands
CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 10
Together, Bruinsma and Rut-
ledge have been making plans
and preparations for the
Remember as One celebration.
They have already met with
many officials, politicians and
agencies in both Holland and
Canada, including Foreign
Affairs and The Hague to advo-
cate. They want to have a large
veterans parade and to have
Her Royal Highness, Princess
Margriet of the Netherlands
attend to unveil a sign that will
be erected in Liberation Park
telling Canadians of the Libera-
tion plaque that was erected in
Holland manyyears ago.
Bruinsmahas alreadyreceived
a promise from the Canadian
Armed Forces to have a strong
representation, including having
some major military bands to
playin the parade. Arrangements
are being made to have military
vehicles and equipment on
display during the celebration.
Bruinsma and Rutledge were
advised to put a website up and
have gotten a start on that. They
are currently making presenta-
tions to each municipality and
other partners to submit letters of
support to be published on the
website.
This is a huge undertaking
for two men to attempt. How-
ever, at a presentation to Cen-
tral Huron Council Bruinsma
was very confident that their
plans will come to fruition. He
enthusiastically stated, "We
think we can go all the way!"

HOME PLAN OF THE WEEK
RELEASE DATE: Apr. 16 - Apr. 22, 2016
PLAN NUMBER 2-3-761
GREAT FOR A GROWING FAMILY
This two-storey family home features
a basement entry, with the living area
on the upper floor. On the ground floor
is space for a fourth bedroom, and a
kitchen area and three-piece bathroom
have been roughed in.
The covered entry leads into a foyer with
a coat cupboard directly ahead. To the left
is a study and to the right is the L-shaped
staircase that opens into the great room
on the main living floor.
The great room features a ceiling slightly
higher than that of the adjoining kitchen
and dining areas. The wood -burning
fireplace will make the great room
a magnet for family activities during
the cooler months, while a sundeck
overlooking the front garden will offer
plenty of space for outdoor living.
The kitchen has access to a covered
patio overlooking the back garden, ideal
for year-round grilling. The family's cooks
will appreciate the corner pantry and
prep island, as well as the L-shaped
counter configuration.
The dining area includes an optional
bayed -out buffet, always useful for
storage and serving.
The master suite, located at the front
of the home, features an ensuite with
double sinks and an oval soaker tub.
The walk-in closet will be roomy enough
for the most fashion -conscious couple's
clothing and accessories.
The second and third bedrooms, both
overlooking the back garden, share a
three-piece bath.
Natural light will flood through a skylight
placed in the corridor adjacent to the
master bedroom, near the linen cupboard.
On the ground floor, the double garage
is spacious enough to contain room for
storage. The unfinished basement, if not
used for a secondary suite, offers space
for a media room, a studio or a guest
room.
Exterior finishes include stucco,
enhanced by brick pilasters at the
entrance. Wooden slats form a decorative
area on the facade. Trim is painted a
contrasting colour.
This home measures 47 feet wide by
46 feet, eight inches deep, for a total of
1,470 square feet.
