Blyth Bullets midget broomball team celebrate in bubbles Valerie Gillies Clinton News Record The Blyth Bullets midget broomball team decided to cel- ebrate the end of their season with a bubble challenge. The event took place on March 4 in the gymnasium of Central Huron Secondary School. Jacqui Empson, the mother of one of the players, found the bubbles online. This is the second year that the team has done this. Empson explains that it is a fun end -of -year activity that everyone can do. She revealed that some of the parents had also been in the bubbles. She smiled and related, "It is a lot of laughs. The are having fun crashing into each other." The bubbles were rented from IBump.ca out of London, Ontario. Owner Carrie Bar- toch explained, "The bubbles are fun for all ages with a 50 pound minimum. Some of the little ones curl up 111 it." Often those who rent them play soc- cer inside the bubbles. They are often contacted to come to work events. At events like the one at CHSS, the parents usu- allybecome involved. Bartoch stated that they were kept fairly busy as, "They are really affordable for big events:' The members of the Blyth Bullets are from the Clinton/ Blyth/Londesborough area. One of the players, Cameron Wilts, commented that being inside the bubbles is hot and tight. This is mainly the case for the larger participants. With frequent breaks to trade the bubbles to others, it is a quite enjoyable activity. There is no minimum amount of time to wear the bubbles in a casual party. While taking a break, it was obvious that the onlookers were enjoying the activity as well. Many were goading the players to challenge each other. When tumbles hap- pened, or wearers chose to just take a dive just to see how they would bounce, there were many expressions of interest and appreciation mixed in with the usual con- cerned noises heard at any physical contact activity. Those who were asked indi- cated that this is definitely an activity that others should try. The universal statement was, "It's fun!" 11 Air 4"."
