The Christmas meeting of the
Walton Institute was held in
the hall Wednesday evening.
Mrs. K. McDonald presided for
the opening exercises and Mrs.
H. Traviss was pianist. Mrs.
George Hibbert read the secre-
tary -treasurer's report, also cor-
respondence. A training school
for leaders on short course,
"What Shall I Wear?" will be
held in Clinton, Jan. 23 and 24.
Roll call was answered by "A
Childhood Christmas Memory."
The men are to be invited to
the January meeting as the
guest speaker is to be from
Maitland Conservation. Mrs. N.
Reid was added to the lunch
committee for January.
The Women's Institute agreed
to go in with the hall board
for the euchre parties. Lunch
committee is to look after get-
ting the prizes. Committee for
January 3 is: Mrs. L. Leeming,
Mrs. G. McCall, Mrs. N. Marks,
Mrs. William Humphries; Janu-
ary 17: Mrs. William Dennis,
Mrs. G. Corlett, Mrs. N. Reid
and Mrs. J. Clarke,
Cook books were distributed
for members. Conveners for the
program were: Branch direc-
tors, Mrs. A. McDonald, Mrs. W.
E. Turnfull, Mrs. M. Humphries.
Mrs. Turnbull read a poem on
Christmas. Mrs. A. McDonald
gave the motto, "Origin of
Christmas Carols," . following
with the singing of Christmas
carols.
Mrs. Humphries had a mys-
tery box wrapped and each was
to guess what it contained, Mrs.
Hibbert being the closest the
article was a dish cloth and a
Christmas hat. She then had
to ,model the hat and as she
walked around, each guessed
how many articles were on the
hat. Mrs. Marjory Humphries
was the winner; the number of
ribbons op the hat, Mrs. P. Mc-
Donald n the lucky chair
prize. Groups were divided to
sing one verse of/"While Shep-
herds Watched Their Flocks By
Night," No. 2 side 'being the
winners.
Mrs. Turnbull gave "A Prayer
At Christmas." Santa Claus ar-
riv el 4n merry spirits and dis-
tributed gifts from the decorat-
ed Christmas tree. Lunch was
served by Mrs. G. Watson, Mrs.
E. Watson . Mrs. W. Shortreed
and Mrs. '+. Thatnete Lttcky cup
winner�,s were Mrs, H. Craig and

SEAFORTH WHIRL -A -WAYS PLAN
SQUARE DANCE 'EVENTS HERE
Members of the Seaforth
Whirla-aWays, -along with those
taking the basic beginners'
coarse .in modern square danc-
ing, attended a Christmas party
and square dance in the recrea-
tion hall at the RCAF Base,
Clinton, on Thur$4ay evening.
There were square dancers pres-
ent from Kincardine, Goderich,
Clinton and Seaforth. Besides
regular square dancing, contests
were held, Mrs. Elmer Rivers
and Bruce Coleman of Seaforth
being among the winners.
On Saturday night the Sea -
forth clubs are playing host to
the other clubs in the area at
the SDHS. • Ron Thornton of
.Woodstock will' be the caller
for the evening. He is well
known and it is expected that
square dancers will attend from
as far south as London and as
far north as Kincardine.
The Seaforth Whirl -a -Ways
have planned a graduation
dance on February 15, for the
beginners now taking the spe-
cial course. Spectators are wel-
come at either event.
CONSTANCE.
Tfie' CGIT girls held their
Christmas party at the home
of their leader, Mrs. Reg Law-
son. Mary Buchanan was in
charge of the devotions. Joyce
Brown read the scripture, taken
from Matthew, second chapter,
verses 1-10. The hymn, "0 Lit-
tle Town of Bethlehem," was
sung. Mary Buchanan led in
prayer. The girls then had the
exchange of Christmas gifts and
the hostess served lunch.
