A 5`u.prrise party was held
Friday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Felker in honor
of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fischer,
who celebrate their twenty-fifth
wedding anniversary this week.
About 30 friends and neigh-

an enjoyable evening playing
euchre. Men's prizes were won
by Gordon Noble and Johnnie
Muir; women's prizes went to
Mrs. Nobel and Mrs. Rudy
Rehn. Mrs. Racho won the
prize for lone hands.
The following address was
read by Mrs. Ella Hoegy: "Dear
Velma and Ed: We, your neigh-
bors and friends, have gathered
here tonight for this special
occasion which started 25 years
ago. We expect you, like all of
us, have had your ups and
downs, but God has blessed you
with three fine children, and
also a grandson. The first to ap-
pear was Dorothy, a lovely
curly -headed lass; then second,
stalwart Keith, very quiet and
never to sass. Last, but not
least, came Brian, the lad as
long as he lives, so will his dad.
"We hope we can call on you
in another 25 years. We hope
you like the gifts we brought,
May you long live to enjoy
them a lot. May God's richest
blessing rest on you, with health
and happiness your whole life
through. -Signed on behalf of
your Neighbors and Friends."
Mr. and Mrs. Fischer were
presented with a coffee table,
step -table, a lamp and a velvet

MR. AND MRS. JOHN DOUGLAS ORR are shown
following their recent marriage in First Presbyterian
Church, Seaforth. The bride is the former Marlene Joy
Miller, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William John
Miller, of Seaforth, and the groom is the son of Mrs.
John A. Orr, Stratford, and the late Mr. Orr. The couple
will live in London.
Canadian social worker Doris Clark invites you to write
her about your problem. She answers letters of general
interest in this column but can't undertake personal replies.
DEAR DORIS-I have been a
widow for many years, raising
three children. Next summer I
will have my first holiday and
I am going to Scotland. It may
well be my last, as my boy
starts into university next year,
and I will have another to edu-
cate.
Don't tell me I can't afford
to go. I know it. I also know
how dependent children can be-
come. But Jack usually gets
dinner on the way before I get
home and I think they can man-
age.
What clothing do you sug-
gest? Also, how much money
is enough? As this is a one-
time thing, I want to plan care-
fully and see as much as pos-
sible.
TIME OF MY LIFE
DEAR TIME -Take twice as
much money as you think you'll
need and` half as much clothing.
I practically lived in a suit,
when I went; had three drip-
dry
p
dry blouses which did triple du-
ty. Add one afternoon dress,
one dress -up dress, a sweater
and a change of lingerie. Walk-
ing shoes with rubber soles,
and a pair of high heels. A
fold -up type plastic raincoat and
a topcoat.

this age? I really believe I love

FIRESIDE FARM FORUM
Fireside Farm Forum met at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oli-
ver Anderson with nine in at-
tendance. The discussion was
"Women In Their Place."
It was • decided that the wo-
men of the forum- can find en-
ough to do at home, but in the
community there are several who
work outside the home. These
are women without small chil-
dren. Women who spend most
of their married life working
outside the home would be let-
ting something slip at home,
but then there are some who
have to work to keep things go-
ing.
It -was decided that further
training and education does not
hurt anyone if finances permit.
The night schools have been
quite a help, but are usually
held in the winter and some
find it impossible to attend when
they have small young.
In the euchre most games
were won by Mrs. James How-
att; lone hands, Mrs. Geo. Car-
ter; consolation, Gordon McGre-
gor.
The next meeting will be held -
at the home of Mrs. James
Howatt.
