IQ Ladies; Meet The November meeting of the Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxil- iary was held Tuesday evening, with president Mrs. William Smale presiding, when nomina- tion of 1964 officers wag held,. Christmas parcels will be sent to local serving members of the Armed Forces, also to two Legion Auxiliary adopted veter- ans in Westminster Hospital. A Christmas party for all Legion and ,Auxiliary members will be held in the Legion Hall on De- cember 8th. The December meeting will be a Christmas party meeting, with an exchange of gifts, with gifts of not less than $1.00 per person. The mystery prize was won by Mrs. Harold Campbell, and guessing prize by Mrs. John' Skea. Bingo was played and lunch served. First Gal: "You wrote a con- fession story? Did it sell?" THOMAS KYLE (Photo courtesy Zurich Citizens News) Thirty members of the fam- ily of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle, Sr., of Hensall gathered at their home Wednesday eve- ning to honor them on their sixtieth wedding anniversary and to enjoy a social evening with them and to present them with the gift of a record play- er. Cards were enjoyed and a midnight buffet luncheon serv- ed. They were the recipients of congratulatory messages from Queen Elizabeth, Rt. Hon. L. B. Pearson, Prime Minister of Canada; John Robarts, Premier of Ontario; C. S. MacNaughton, Minister of Highways; a fram- ed certificate from the Provin- cial Secretary, and messages from their sons,, Roy of Tim- mins and Russell of St. Cath- arines, in addition to cards, flowers and gifts. Their marriage was solemniz- ed in the Anglican Parsonage, Hensall. Mr. Kyle is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Kyle, formerly of Tuckersmith, and his wife is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno Kipfer, Waterloo County. They farmed on the Parr Line, Hay Township, retiring to Hensall 30 years ago. The family consists of Byran and David, Hensall; Russell, St. Catharines; Roy, Timmins; Mrs. Arnold Merner, Zurich, and Mrs. Clare Tuckey, London. There are 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Johnnie llrent of CINX-TV, Wingham, on Friday afternoon interviewed the presidents of Crediton, Elimville, Seaforth, Hurondale and Kippen East Wo- men's Institutes of South Hu- ron; also, interviewed were Mrs, Harry Strang, vice-chairman of the area, speaking on the area convention; Mrs. Ken Johns, Elimville, who commented on the Bursary Scholarship Fund; Mrs. Harry Caldwell, secretary of the South Huron District, speaking on institute work, and Mrs. W. D. Mack, provincial curator. The very attractive hat worn by Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, president of Kippen East WI, which she made herself, drew forth very favorable comments from the MC, Johnnie Brent. Following the interview, the group was taken on a tour of the station and served coffee. Thirty ladies attended. Legion members of the • Hen- sall Branch of the Canadian Le- gion 468, were treated to a de- licious smorgasbord supper in the Legion Hall Monday eve- ning, served by the Ladies' Aux- iliary and convened by Mrs. E. R. Davis. Mrs. John Henderson, who has been a patient in South Hu- ron Hospital, Exeter, for the past nine weeks, returned home Sunday. Messrs. George . Beer, Gerald Bell, Gordon Love and Don Mousseau returned Saturday from hunting at Manitoulin. While they bagged only one deer, they saw plenty of deer, but they were mostly in re- stricted area, and the weather was unfavorable for hunting. Mr. Fred Beer and Mr. Harry Horton aattended the Canadian Corps Cyclist Battalion reunion held at the King Edward Hotel, Toronto, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Smale and Sharon visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cous- ins and family of London. Hensall Girl Guides and Brownies will conduct a home- made candy sale of the village Saturday. Representing Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, Mrs. Clarence Volland, Noble Grand of the lodge, appeared on M'Lady pro- gram on CKNX-TV, Wingham, Thursday afternoon. Other lodg- es in the district were repres- ented. Amber Rebekah Lodge met in the lodge rooms Wednesday with Noble Grand Mrs. Clar- ence Volland presiding.- It was decided to have a dessert euchre November 27, also the Christmas party will be the regular meeting December 4, with a gift for the Huron Chil- dren's Aid Society. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Sunday at the home of their daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Hen- drick, of Dashwood. A fowl dinner was served with all the trimmings, including, a three- tier wedding cake. On Thurs- day evening last friends sur- prised them at their home to spend a social evening with them. Luncheon was served. Mr. Robert Mickle of the Uni- versity of Western Ontario, London, spent Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, and Ann. Unit Four Meets Unit IV of the UCW met Thursday afternoon for their November meeting with Mrs. James McAllister presiding for the meeting. The devotional, using the theme, "I am the vine, ye are the branches," was in charge of Mrs. George Arm- strong and Mrs. R. M. Peck. Mrs. McAllister took the stu- dy, assisted by Mrs. Ezra Kip- fer, and Mrs. Robin McAllister, speaking on "The Christian Church in Western India." Plans for the annual bazaar, to be held Saturday, Nov. 30th, were made. An invitation to Carmel Presbyterian Church November 25th, was accepted. BRUCEFIELD Mr. Robert Allan, Jr., is in Toronto for a week or more, assisting with the Royal Winter Fair. Mrs. A. Paterson, Gwen and Beth Hill, Brucefield, Mrs. B. Sholdice and Mr. C. Sholdice, Exeter, spent the weekend with Mrs. Paterson°s brother, Mr. Ken Sholdice, Windsor. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dal- rymple, Bonnie and Betty, spent the weekend in Michigan. Mrs. Walter Moffatt is spend- ing some time in Gravenhurst with her sister, Miss Eleanor Fisher, and Dr. Murray Fisher and family.
