A BY-LAW TO RAISE $100,000
TO AID IN THE CONSTRUC-
T'ION OF TILE. STONE OR
TIMBER DRAINS.
The Council of the Municipal-
ity of the Township of McKillop,
pursuant to the provisions of
the Tile Drainage Act., enacts
as follows:
1. That the Reeve may from
time to time subject to the
provisions of this by-law,
borrow on the credit of the
Corporation of the said Mun-
icipality such sum not ex-
ceeding in the whole $100,000,
as may be determined by the
Council. and may in manner
hereinafter provided, issue
debentures of the said Cor-
poration in such sum's as the
Council may deem proper
for the amount so borrowed,
with Coupons attached as
provided in Sectiodi 4 of the
said Act.
2. That, subject to Section 10, of
the Tile Drainage Act, when
the Council shall be of the
opinion that the aotrl'ication
of any person to borrow
money for the purpose of
constructing a tile. stone or
timber drain, should be
g'ran'ted in whole, or in part,
the Council may. by resolu-
tion. direct the Reeve to is-
sue debentures as aforesaid,
and to borrow a sum not ex-
ceeding the amount applied
for. and may lend the same
to the 'anulicant on the com-
pletion of the drainage work.
3. A special annual rate shall
he imposed, levied and col-
lected over and above all
other rates upon the land in
respect of which the said
money shall be borrowed.

Higginbotham gave a very in-
teresting summary of her stay
at Alma College in St. Thomas.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read. by Mrs. Ron Ben-
nett and the roll call taken.
Mrs. Bennett read six thank -
you notes which had been re-
ceived. The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Kenneth Mc-
Donald. The Regional Presby-
terial meeting is to be held in
Bayfield on October 8,. The of-
fering was taken and dedicated
with prayer.
Hymn 214 was sung and the
president, Mrs. Nelson Reid,
closed the meeting with prayer.

held in Duff's United Church
Sunday, Sept. 22. The morning
service will commence at 11:00
a.m., and 8 p.m. in the even-
ing.
McKillop Unit
Mrs. Murray Dennis enter-
tained
the ladies of the McKil-
lop Unit and their families to
a picnic at her home. The meet-
ing opened with the sibiging
of children's hymns. Mary
Leeming read the scripture;
Jean Roe read a story entitled,
"A Mother's Day Gift"; Doug
and Deanna Wey and Dianne
Fraser gave a skit, and Dianne
Frased gave a recitation.
Mrs. Roy Wildfong and Miss
Tena Dennis conducted sports
for the children, and Miss Ethel
Dennis was in charge of con-
tests for the ladies. Sandwich-
es, cake and ice-cream were
served by the ladies.
Observe Rally Day
Rally Day was observed in
DufT's United Church last Sun-
day morning. The scripture
readings were taken by John
Baan from Isaiah 40;28-31 and
Luke 4:16-22. Linda Bryans was
in charge of the responsive
prayer litany and offered pray-
er. The Sunday school children
sang the anthem, "Glory Be To
God on High." During the serv-
ice,Brjt a Laverne Godkin, son
of--M'i-. and Mrs. Laverne God -
kin, was baptized by Rev• A.
Higginbotham.

Miss Eileen O'Rourke, daugh-

has begun her grade 12 studies
at St. Joseph's Academy, Lon-
