Mullen Monday at Kilt chan Nursing Home. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon M. Hays of Detroit were holiday visitors with her sister, Mrs. C. P. Sill and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Flynn attended the funeral of Mrs Russell Branion of Whitewood Sask., Monday in London. The late Mrs. Branion was a sister of Mrs. Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Geddes and sons, John and Robert, of London, who have recently re- turned from a five-week trip to the west coast, visited over the weekend with Mr. and rs.r Ernest Geddes and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith and family of Verscyole called on friends in town on Sunday. Mr. R. A. Finnigan of Wind- sor . and Mrs. W. J. Finnigan have just returned from a trip to -California. Hold Garden Tea The UCW Unit D of Bruce - field United Church held a gar- den tea at- the home of Mrs. Harvey Taylor on Wednesday, Aug. 21, when over 1000called and viewed, the beautiful grounds and the many antiques in the different rooms in the house. Mrs. Taylor received the guests. The dining room table was covered with a lovely cut - work cloth and silverware. Mrs, Wilmer Broadfoot and Mrs. H. Berry poured tea, while other members of the unit served. The unit would like to thank everyone who called from Var• na and Brucefield, also Mrs. Taylor for her kind hospitality.
