Bowling Club Saturday after-
noon proved a big success as
36 entries competed for •prizes.
Local applicants for the tourna-
ment were turned down so out-
of-town entries could compete.

Seaforth three games to one in
WOAA playoff action by down-
ing the local lads 6 to 4 here
Wednesday night.
Mitchell took a fast four -to -
two lead at the end of the first
inning and scored one run in
each of the fifth and sixth in-
nings.
Seaforth pushed runs across
in the third and fourth frames
to square the score at four -all,
but could not contain the visi-
tors in the final two innings.
Errors let in the winning run.
A walk and two singles brought
in the insurance run.
Doug Wright, in hurling the
route for the losers, was tagged
for only five hits, but gave up
five walks. His mates were
nailed for three errors.
Francis Hagan led Seaforth
at the plate with a double and
a single.

On the tail end of an. 8-4 mark
at the end of the third inning,
Seaforth was held scoreless for
two innings until a three -run
sixth inning pulled them within
one run of the visitors.
Two frames later on the crest
of three consecutive triples Sea -
forth rode past Clinton with
three runs to float the win to
safety.
The locals tagged Clinton pit-
cher Monty Motomura for 10
hits, including six for extra
bases.
Motomura has almost as many
different pitches as a travelling
medicine man, but Seaforth bat-
ters have been able to hit ev-
ery pitcher they faced and it
was only a matter of time be-
fore they got to him.
Clinton slipped into a fast

Gord Slaghts moved to the

From there on it was all
Slaghts' ball game as he struck
out 14 batters and gave up only
two scattered singles. The rest

Seaforth Peewees have ex-
hibited fine form in the past
few weeks bye. winning their
last three games out of four
played.
The local squad downed God-
erich at the salt city 8 to 5,
as. John McLean scattered sev-
en hits in going the route for
the winners.
Ricky Wood clouted two dou-
bles; John Wilson knocked a
triple and a single, and McLean
added two singles to lead Sea -
forth at the plate.
Seaforth took the lead in the
second inning as J. Fraiser,
Paul Muir, Wood and Wilson
crossed the plate to set the
score down at 4 to_ 0.
Another four -run . inning in
the fourth salted the game
away. Fraiser, Wood and Wil-
son scored again, along with
McLean.
Swamp Lucan
At Lucan, Seaforth swamped
the Irish by a 13 to 2 drench-
ing on July 11. Brian Fischer
gave up only three hits and
whiffed 11 Lucan batters for'
the winners.
Danny Muir led the Seaforth
hitters with a double and two
singles. Seaforth collected 11
hits off the Lucan pitcher. John
Wilson, Brian Fischer and Gary
Nicholson each added a double
and a single.
Lucan led 2 to 1 after the
first inning, but Seaforth scor-
ed in each inning after and
halted any more Lucan scoring
to run away with the tilt.
Split With Clinton
In the two games with Clin-
ton the locals split, losing 5 to
4 in the first game and win-
ning 10 to 3 in the return
match at Seaforth..
Clinton picked up twb' rung
in the first and fifth innings.
Seaforth scored one in the first,
two in the third, and took a
one -run lead in the sixth be-
fore Clinton came back to tie
the game.
Clinton managed to pull out
with the win with,a run in their
half of the seventh frame. John
McLean took the loss. He was
credited with six strikeouts and
gave up seven hits.

Seaforth quickly opened the
scoring in the first on runs by
Brian Fischer, John Wilson and
Gary Nicholson. The -home-
towners added two runs in each
of the second and third in-
nings. Three runs in the fifth
put the game on ice.,•
Gary Nicholson providd the
power at the plate with two dou-
bles and a single. Brian Fischer
chipped in with three singles.
Winthrop Tops
Brussels Eleven
Winthrop and Brussels
tangled in Brussels on Wednes-
day in Huron Soccer League ac-
tion played under the lights.
After 90 minutes of action, the
final score was Winthrop. 4,
Brussels 1.
Winthrop led 2-0 at half-time
on goals by John Boven and
George Love.
Early in the second half Brus-
sels scored to make it 2-1, but
Winthrop came back with two
more goals, to make the final
count 4-1. Ken McClure and
Bill Kerr scored the Winthrop
goals.

St. Columban. The game is a
replay of a postponement be-
tween the two teams. Game
time is 7:30 p.m.

Slaghts got into a little trou-

out the first two men to face
him and quickly squelched any
flareup by striking out Len Faw-
cett for the win.
Seaforth played alertly in
the field, committing no errors,
while Clinton was marked for
three bobbles.
Clinton 6, Seaforth 4
In the first game of the ser-
ies the story was reversed as
Clinton beat Seaforth 6-4 at
Clinton. The hometeam. tagged
Carm Vint for nine hits and the
fielding was a little on the slop-
py side as Seaforth fumbled
three times.
Clinton opened the ball game
with' four runs in the first in-
ning on two errors and two sin-
gles. Single runs in each of the
second and the fourth locked
up the win.
Seaforth scored in the first
when Bob Beuttenmiller smash-
ed a single and toured the bags,
on two overthrows. Two more
runs were added in the fourth
on Carm Vint's single which
brought in Ray Henderson, who
had doubled. Cliff's Petrie's
long fly sent' Doug Rowcliffe
home.
Bob Whitelaw singled in the
fifth and Ray Henderson's safe-
ty pushed him across the plate
bringing Seaforth within two
runs of Clinton.
Seaforth bombed Monty
Motomura for nine hits, but
couldn't put them together for
a good rally.,

Brussels Girls
The W & W Wingers went
down to defeat in the first
game of the playoffs with Brus-
sels girls on Friday, in Brus-
sels, when they were downed
20-7. Errors in the first two
innings by the Wingers put the
game in Brussels possession.
G. Wilson and Y. Knight led
the winners with four runs
each, and Norah Brown led the
losers with two runs. Ruth Rit-
chie also sparked the losers in
the fourth with a homer when
the bases were loaded.
