Logan Council
At the regular meeting of
Logan Township Council, a
supplementary_ bylaw was pass-
ed requiestirig the Department
of Highwayssto approve an ex-
tra $50,000.00 for 1963 road
work.
The 1963 .township mill rate
was set, the fame as 1962-16.7
mills on commercial assessment
and 14.5 on residential and
farm lands; the Perth County
rate being 12.4, Mitchell Dis-
trict High School 14.4 and 16,
and the Public School Sections
ranging from 7 to 18,4.
The treasurer reported all
1960 taxes were paid up and
the 1981 and 1962 taxes` still
outstanding amounted to $12,-
149.36. The first payment of the
1963 unconditional grant had
been received, $3,506.10.
Road accounts amour ng to
$4,385.59 and general accounts
totalling $1,430.46 were order-
ed paid.
East Wawanosh
East Wawanosh Township
Council set the residential and
farm mill rate at 14 mills and
the commercial rate at 16 mills
for 1963 at its July meeting.
Council granted $1,000 to the
Belgrave Community Centre
building. fund and loaned the
same organization $3,000 until
the provincial grant is receiv-
ed.
The bylaw on the Arbuckle
Municipal Drain was passed at
court of revision, no appeals
being presented.

Usborne Township Council
awarded the Whale Bridge con-
tract to McCann Bros. Construc-
tion, RR 3, Dashwood, at its
July meeting in Elimville. Mc-
Cann Bros. bid $3,137 in a lump
sum for the bridge at Lot 14,
S.W. Boundary Concession. The
contract is PP
subject to approval

Highways.
Three other bids were receiv-
ed: Ronald E. Savile Construc-
tion, RR 3, Stratford, for $3,-
552.50; Bruce D. MacDonald,

The road superintendent re-
ported there were some broken
tile •near the headwall on the
Cann -Mitchell drain. Council
instructed him to oversee pro-
per repairs.
He also reported there is en-
ough filling below the tile out-
let in the Stewart drain to pre-
vent good operation. Council
agreed this should be looked
after when the Mauer drain is
repaired.
Council declined to accept
any responsibility for painting
costs on the Morrison Dam be-
cause the township has accepted
responsibility for the mainten-
ance of approaches only.
In other business, council re-
newed the compensation liabil-
ity policy through W. H. Hodg-
son Ltd., at a premium of $46.26
to general account and $236.25
to roads and bridges account,
and made a tile drainage loan
of $600, less inspection fees of
$13, and interest costs of $15.

Howick Council
», Howick Township Council ac-
cepted the petition of Ed., Kil-
linger ,.to repair a portion of
the Killinger drain on Lot 27,
Con. 15, and appointed Robert
Gibson drain commissioner at
its, July meeting.
Council accepted the tender
of Everett Cathers for hauling
and loading pit run gravel at
29 cents per cubic yard, sub-
ject to approval of the Ontario
Department 8f Highways.

versed a move set last year and
upped the tax rate by two mills

TRACTOR CLUB MEETS
The June meeting of the Sea -
forth 4-H Tractor Club was held
at the shop of Neil McGavin,
club leader, in Walton on Thurs-
day.
Slides on the fuel combus-
tion of tractors were shown and
explained by Bert Moggach, en-
gineer for the Department of
Agriculture.
The next meeting will be
held at the farm of club leader
Neil Haugh, of Brucefield.
