Both hurlers had trouble con- trolling the ball, as dampness hampered their effectiveness. As a result the batters had a good night at the plater Seaforth batters tagged Gode- rich, pitcher, John Bisset, for 11 hits. Goderich managed nine hits, but put them together for a nine -run barrage in the fifth and six runs in the eighth. Three Goderich batters reach- ed first when hit by wild pitch- es. Seaforth opened the scoring in the third frame when Cliff Petrie batted in Bob Whitelaw. In the fourth, the local team added four runs as Doug Row- cliffe and Carmen Vint sliced singles for the RBI's. Goderich burst into the lead in the fifth with nine runs. The president, Mrs. James Devereaux, opened the meeting with a prayer for Pope John XXIII. Two new members were wel- comed to the executive: Mrs. J. Aubin as third vice-president, and Mrs.. J. ,,Kelly as treasurer. Before leaving Seaforth, Mrs. A. McCourt was presented with a cup and saucer in apprecia- tion of her work as treasurer. Parish visitors for June will be Mrs. J. L. Slattery and Mrs. •J. McConnell. All members were asked to visit during the summer months. Mrs. C. Ma- lone will take care of the altar in July, and Mrs. J. McConnell in August. First Communion certificates have been obtained and will be framed and given to the chil- dren on June 16. It was decided to have a Communion breakfast for Grade VIII graduates and to provide crests and treat for the chil- dren on ,their field day. THOMSON Mrs. Matthew Thomson, 87, died in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Sunday, June 2, hav- ing been a patient about two weeks. She was the former mer Annie Miller, of Hibbert t Tow ns i h P, and following w' o m her g marriage to Matthew Thomson they .farm- ed in Hibbert. Mr• Thomson died. 11 years ago and Mrs. Thomson has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wil- liam Lamport, since then.
