TjTjTjTjTjTj Dublin Discuss Dairy. Industry When Institute Meets Mr. Norman Stacey, of Mit- chell, was guest speaker for the May meeting of the Dublin Women's Institute. He spoke on the dairy industry, its history from early days up until the present time. Mr. Stacey was introduced by Mrs. Rube Aiken and thanked by Mrs. James Statton. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Andrew Whethatll, the president. "What I would do if 1 were reeve" was the roll call response. A report of the district annual, held in Sebring - vale, was given by Mrs. Harold Pethick. The motto, "Buried seeds grow, buried talents nev- er," was given by Mrs. Joe Dill. Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. William Smith. Forty Hours devotion was op- ened at the 8:30 Mass on Sun- day with Rev. Father Meyers, of the Redemptorist Order, as guest speaker. Rev. Monsignor A. Durand is also assisting. Closing exercises were held on Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock, with Solemn Benediction. Rev. Father Harry Feeney, C.R., of Kitchener, with Mrs. Kathleen Feeney. First Church WMS Meets The Senior Women's Mission- ary Society met in First Pres- byterian Church on Tuesday, May 22. Miss Jessie Fraser op- ened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. J. B. Russell read the minutes of the last meeting. An invitation was accepted from Burns' United Church. Mrs. J. W. Thompson spoke on "Keeper of the Spring." Miss Belle Campbell received the of- fering and the dedication '"was made by Miss Fraser. Mrs. W. J. Thompson took over the meeting. Mrs. Russell read the scripture and gave the meditation. Mrs, J. L. Bell fol- lowed with a prayer. Mrs. Wm. Drover described the history of Tyrone. Over •1200 varieties of flowers were grown, she said. About 95 per cent of the chil- dren attended school and inter- est on bank loans ran as high as 50 per cent. Hall, London, presi: dent of the University of West- ern Ontario. "This fair, as well as being a quality agricultural fair, is also an educational ac- tivity," he said. Frank M. Falconer, RR , 5, Clinton, president of the Huron Central Agricultural Society, which sponsors the event, and the secretary -treasurer, William G. Riehl, termed the event suc- cessful. They noted that exhibi- tors came from as far away as Barrie, 138 miles. Area winners included: Beef Cattle Shorthorns—W. E. Parker, R R 8, Watford, took 15 prizes, including 10 firsts in the Short- horn class; McMahan Bros., AR 3. Wyoming, took 10 prizes and William Pepper, RR 3, Seaforth, two prizes.
