A letter from the Departrnet:t
of the Attorney -general an
flounced that the lighting ',near
the corner of the county road
, and B,ighway 4, near Brueefieid.
was not responsible for the
death of John McEwan. The
jury recommended better light-
ing. but the Attorney -General
said the present lighting was
adequate.
If Tuckersmith undertook any
new lighting project, the De-
partment of H.kghway s of On-
tario would pay 50 per cent of
the installation costs.
Check Lighting Costs
Council authorized the clerk
to inquire as to the costs of
mercury vapor or fluorescent
lights and infprm the Attorney-
GeneraI of the move. The clerk
will also inform the latter that
Tuckersmith plans no lighting
changes this y -ear.
The council discussed the
township garage. Councillors
will inspect the leaky roof be-
fore the next meeting to decide,
what repairs are necessary.
The township received an in-
terim subsidy of S5.700 from.
the DHO for the construction
of roads. The Health and Wel-

was the aunt of Mr. Joseph

• 14. This dress was first worn
y Mrs. W. J. Brady in 1906
nd then by Mrs. P. L. Brady
n 1940. Although it was made
in Toronto. the material was
purchased in Paris while Mrs.
Brads was on a trip to Europe
the previous year. It is of ivory
bridal satin. with an overdress
' of handmade Brussels lace. The
overskirt is shaped and woven
completely in one piece with
just a centre hack seam. The
dressmaker who made it was
:so concerned that the - bride
might f ,rget to wear something
blue that she embroidered two
little rosettes of blue beads on
the inside of the girdle. The
model is Mrs. Jean Hildebrand.
15. Mir. John Bach is model
ling the gown of her mother,
who was married in' 1909. It is
a twq-piece dress of corded silk
and the silk trim is carried out
in an appliqued design on the
sleeves and skirt. The waistline
is set off by a pleated silk cum-
merl?und. The accessories are I
purple stockings and high but-
tot- black shoes.
16. Again 1909 is the year this
gown was first worn by Miss
Annie E. Caesar, when she be-.
came the bride of Roger Joseph
Corrigan. The dress and coat
are of imported fine wool. The
coat is lined with fine silk and
trimmed with handmade lace,
the same as the yoke on the
dress. Note' the heavy silk sash-
es hanging from the shoulders.
The bride's hat was white wool
felt wits a large white ostrich
plume as trim. The hat has
been misplaced, but I under-
stand the plume was really
large and really long. The mo-
del is Mrs. E. 11 Marshall.
17. Mrs. W. A. Wright is
modelling our next gown, worn
in 1910 by Miss Mary Allen,
when she married Mr. Frank
Martin Kling - the father of
Frank Kling. The bride was
probably better known in our
time hs Mrs. William Manson.
The dress is of grey satin with
a georgette apron, and an un-
usual feature is that% it is the
underskirt that forms a little
train. The dress was made en-
tirely by Mrs. Manson.
18. Still in the year 1910, we
have Sandra Hugill wearing the
gown worn by Mrs. Thos. Wil-
liamson, formerly Gertrude
Forbes. The dress is made of
silk and satin.
19. The next two gowns be-

of "Manana" (tomorrow). Con-
tinual visits were made to the
city of Temueo for try -ons.
Members of the family and
friends were .pressed into ser-
vice to try to get the lady to
"hurry," and they must have
been successful, because half an
hour before the wedding, when
l fingernails had been chewed to
the elbotr s, the dress was de-
livered. The wedding took place
tin the church of the Holy Trin-
ity in the city of Temuco, in
southern Chile, on Jan. 3, 1936.
The dress was worn through-
,, out the day for photographs and
for the reception in the "Ladies
English Chapel", and was ad-
mired in English, French,
Dutch. German. Arabic, Span-
ish. Mapudungu, and, of course,
Scottish.
The wedding dress came out
of retirement on the occasion
of a historical play, presented
by the senior pupils of the Mis-
sion School: 'Christopher Col-
umbus Discovers America." As
we all know. the Power behind
Columbus was Queen Isabella
i -and this was the dress worn
!to depict the Queen.
The nest time it was a Chris-
t:an pageant. when an 'Archan
gel wore the wedding dress.
Life moves in cycles. and so
the last. occasion on a inch this
dress left the clothes closet was
another wedding. A young nurse
and one of the "Old Boys" from
the Mission School were to be
married. They had saved up
for quite a time and the wed-
ding promised to be quite a
pretty- one. but .Valdemira, an
Aruchanian Indian girl who was
tri be the bridesunaid. had no
dress: nor could she afford to
buy one. So. the wedding dress
became a bridesmaid's dress.
40. In 1939. Ayshi Shousher
became the bride of Alex Has,
san. in a small town Mosque
Lebannon. The bride wore a
handmade original gown of
peau de soie, fashioned on clas-
sic lines. The chemise skirt
sweeps from a lowered waist-
line. which is accented by lace
appliques to a fullness at the
bottom. The back of the dress
is 'made prominent by an "X-
strap" effect. Facing around the
sleeves, lowered waistline. and
the neckline add a feminity to
the otherwise simple gown.
