Amazaing Instrument Takes
Complete Picture of Milking,
Petformance — Dairymen c a n
now obtain a complete picture
of their milking operations with
a new device which is designat-
ed to help them to better ud-
der health and higher milk pro-
duction. This is done by a pre-
cision instrument called the
Eason :Levograph and Vacuum
System Analyzer.
, This amazing device is to,
cow -milking what the Electro-
cardiograph is to the human
heart. The Levograph takes in
operation throughout an entire
milking.
By electrically recording on
tape a reading of the vacuum
flow, it measures fluctuations of
vacuum system installation and
cheeks vacuum regulators and
pumps. The device even shows
up incorrect milking machine
practises by the dairyman,
which when corrected can as-
sist in better milking manage-
ment. -
The Levograph shows up pos-
sible leaks in the milking units
and enable an analysis to be
made of the pulsator perform-
ance. It checks the stability of
vacuum in the inflations during
milking. Furthermore, it shows
how all the inflations work in
the teat cup shells and helps
determine whether efficient
shell -inflation pairing exists.

At Huronview,
Flu Precaution
"tine at Huronview has been
kept under control by the doc-
ter and nurses as much' as could
be expected," Superintendent
Harvey Johnston reported to
county council on Thursday.
Since January 1 there had been
16 admissions and "a record
number" of deaths from flue
and other causes. There had
been eight deaths in the per-
iod, and one inmate discharg-
ed.
"We have not allowed any visi-
tors in the past two weeks, Mr.
Johnston stated, "and the ban
may not be lifted for some
time. A nurse told me this
morning we still have about 28
people running a temperature.
"One time this month we had
194 people in the Home, but
today it is down to 190 — 79
male and 111 female. We have
one person committed by the
magistrate, five from the On-
tario Hospital, London, and one
from the Cobourg Home."
The superintendent • gave a
breakdown showing the num-
ber of inmates from each Hur-
on municipality:
Ashfield, three; Blyth, two;
Brussels, four; Clinton, 15; Col-
borne, five; Exeter, 15; Gode-
rich, 25; Goderich Township,
five; Grey, three; Hay, seven;
Hensall, four; Howick, 15; Hul-
ett, seven; McKillop, one; Mor-
ris, two; Seaforth, 10; Stanley,
11; Stephen, three; Tucker -
smith, nine; Turnberry, six;
Usborne,' two; East Wawanosh,
five; West Wawanosh, nine;
Wingham, eight; Zurich, seven.
"Some have been with us a
good• many years," the superin-
tendent remarked.
The Huronview committee, of
which Reeve Cliff Dunbar, of
Grey, is chairman, reported that
work to cost about" $1,000 will
be done on the roof of the 1954
addition, in hope of avoiding
expenditure of four or five
times that amount.
"The roof was of a type ord-
inarily put on in 1954," said
the chairman, "and litigation
would be inadvisable."
ChairmanDunbar noted that
while "lots of these people are
on a 40 -hour week (on Huron -
view staff),.. Mr. Johnston's time
goes on seven days a week, and
we thought for his extra duties
he should get an extra week of
vacation, but . the personnel
committee has not concurred."
Warden Forbes said the op-
position was not from the com-
mittee, but the department of
welfare would not approve, He
mentioned Mr. N. Drew, of the
Homes for the Aged branch.
As business came to a close,
Reeve Frank Walkom, Gode-
rich, took note of the illness
of Reeve William Morritt, of
Blyth, and deputy clerk -treas-
urer B. G. Hanly. He suggest-
ed that a card be sent the for•
mer.
Tentative dates were set for
committee meetings, that of the
emergency measures committee
to be "some time in the near
future." The budget provides
$12,280 for EMO costs.
