MEXICAN TRAVELOGUE FEATURES
POT LUCK SUPPER AND SOCIAL
A large crowd attended the
• pot -luck supper and social eve-
ning in the basement of Duff's
United Church last Friday eve-
ning under the auspices of the
UCW. Following the supper, the
president, Mrs. Nelson Reid, act-
ed as chairlady for the program:
• quartette, Rev. A. Higginboth-
am, Bryon Traviss, Bob Hous-
ton and Donald McDonald, with
Mrs. Harvey Brown at the
piano; piano duet, Jean and Bet-
ty Roe; Bonnie Uhler's pro -
graham -A quiz show with Miss
Eileen Williamson, Ron Uhler
and Roy Williamson as panel-
ists; Miss Bonnie Uhler' as mas-
ter of ceremonies, and Mrs.
Harry Bolger and Mr. Martin
Baan, guest challengers; solo,
Mrs. Jan Van Vliet, with Mrs.
Donald Buchan accompanying;
quartette, Rev. Higginbotham,
Graeme Craig, Bran, Traviss and
Bob Houston; solo, Donald Mc-
Donald; McKillop Group -Eas-
ter Bonnet Parade with Miss
Ethel Dennis as commentator.
Colored slides were shown by
Mr. Andrew Turnbull on Mexi-
co, where Mr. and Mrs. Turn-
bull spent the winter months.
Miss Anne Achilles returned
to Fort William on Monday by
plane after holidaying with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland
Achilles.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Reid, Den-
nis and Eric, of Toronto, were
weekend guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. George Dundas:
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kirkby,
of Woodstock, spent the week-
end with Mr. Frank Kirkby and
Mr, and Mrs. Douglas Kirkby.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Stutz, of
Wellesly, visited over the week
end with Mr. and Mrs. Torrance
Dundas.
Miss Claire I-Iackwell, of Lon-
don, spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
Hackwell.
Mr. George Taylor has re-
turned home after spending the
past month in Mexico.
Walton Unit
Twenty-six ladies attended the
regular meeting of the Walton
Unit in the church school room
Wednesday evenng, Mrs. Tor-
rance Dundas and Mrs. Jack Mc -
Ewing being in charge of the
opening devotions. A hymn was
used with prayer by Mrs. Dun-
das.
Mrs. McEwing read the scrip-
ture from Hebrews 11:1-13 and
gave a commentary on faith. A
meditation on prayer was giv-
en and members joined in the
Lord's Prayer. Mrs. ' Leonard
Leeming gave a splendid topic
from the study book on Okina-
wa, This part of the meeting
closed with the hymn, "Faith
of Our Fathers." Mrs. Emerson
Mitchell had charge of the busi-
ness period. The date of the
annual bazaar is to be Wednes-
day, March 27, with Mrs. K.
Griffith, of Brussels, as guest
speaker. All ladies of the con-
gregation are invited, also Oth-
er guests. Sale tables are to be
arranged Tuesday evening, Mar.
26. Mrs. Walter Bewley gave a
short review of the book, "As
Asia Goes" -a group of Stogie '
on Asia. This is from the Boot:
shelf. Mrs. Jim Clark, Mrs. E.
Stevens and Mrs. Howard Hack-,
well were hostesses.
CGIT Meet
On March 5s"the meeting , op-
ened with a sing -song, followed
by the CGIT Hymn. Next meet -
t ing will be held March 19th as
a comlttlunity project. Each girl

Grey Area Board
Plans Survey
The regular monthly meeting
of Grey Township School Area
No. 2 was held in the Walton
Public School Wednesday eve-
ning with all members present,
except W. Shortreed. J. Bryans
was named chairman.
Representatives of a school
supply firm explained the
following procedure of a sur-
vey to facilitate the distribution
of school supplies, commencing
next September, until the fol-
lowing June.
The board requested Mr. Jer-
son to contact each teacher in-
dividually concerning the books
she required at periodic inter-
vals, then consult the inspector
for his approval, and finally
meet with the school board
members for their considera-
tion before delivery of the
books to the school.
The following accounts were
presented for payment; Cities
Service Oil Co. Ltd., Listowel,
$106.13; insurance boiler pol-
icy, S. Baker, $83.90; Jack
Hood School Supplies Co. Ltd.,
Stratford, $33.31; Gordon A.
MacEachern Ltd., Toro n t o,
$24.86; Gordon Workman, Brus-
sels, $4.50; Oldfield Hardware,
Brussels, $2.58.
The meeting was adjourned
to meet at the school March 20.
Marianne Wildfong and Shir-
ley Thamer led- the worship ser-
vice. The meeting closed with
Taps.
LADIES' GUILD MEETS
The regular meeting of the
Ladies 'Guild of St. Thomas' An-
glican Church was held last
Wednesday evening at the home
of Mrs. Allan McConn'ey. The
president, Mrs. J. R. Spittal, op-
ened the meeting by reading
from the 119th Psalm, followed
by a prayer for the parish and
the Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. Bill O'Shea reported for
the rectory committee that a
new heat register has been in-
stalled in the rectory kitchen.
The shower for the knitting
booth produced children's mitts,
hats, bed socks, a baby set and
wool.
The April meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Bill
O'Shea and will be a shower
for the variety booth., The
meeting closed with rayer.
Mrs. P. Troutbeck and Mrs. W.
E. Southgate served lunch.
