Canada's role in the Congo is to maintain communica- tions between the scattered outposts of the United Nations force, (Bottom): Members of Canada's Infantry Brigade Group in Europe undergo rigorous battle exercises as ,part of their extensive training to maintain a state of combat readiness while serving with the NATO land forces in Germany. MEMBERS OF SCHWALM FAMILY ATTEND CHRISTMAS. GATHERING The Legion Hall, Hensel', was the setting Christmas Day for a lovely family gathering, when Mrs. Violet Schwalm, of Hen- saII, had all members of her family home for'the festive oc- casion. -Present were her eleven sons and daughters, 23 grand- children and nine great-grand- children. Sixty sat down to a delicious dinner and supper with turkey the main item on the menu. The tables were lovely, center- ed in Christmas motif. The Christmas cake was made by Mrs. Violet Schwalm, who will be 79 years young in May of 1963, and decorated by her daughter, Mrs. Harold Hansen, Stratford. Mrs. Schwalm was the recipient of many gifts from her family and to her daughters and daughters -in-laws she pre- sented each with pillow slips with crochet trim, made by her- self. The family enjoyed a social get-together and enjoyed a per- iod of carol singing, with Har- old Hansen at the piano. Present were: From Strat- ford, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Schwalm and Susan, Mr. and Mrs. • Harold Hansen, Mr. and Hensall - Zurich Tie Strathroy; Both in First Hensall-Zurich Combines and Strathroy Rockets played to a 2-2 tie in Shamrock Junior 'D' hockey action in Strathroy on Thursday. Both clubs are deadlocked for first place. Strathroy has drop- ped just one game and tied two, while winning 10. The Combines have 10 wins, no losses and two ties.
