Recommend Plans
(Continued from Page 1)
proposal- and fo gain approval
of ratepayers affected.
Considering the treatment of
the intersection at Main and
Goderich Streets, the meeting'
asked- that a proposal to pro-
vide for separated traffic
streams, as - recommended by
the Department of Transport,
be reviewed again, and Mr.
Britnell said this would be
done. It was indicated instal-
lation of traffic lights would be
nrdre satisfactory,
McCormick & Rankin present-
ed two plans for Goderich St.
West, the alternative to the
plan recommenced providing
for a 24 -foot pavement. In
either case, sidewalks would be
rebuilt to compensate for grade
changes and approaches to in-
tersecting streets.
The engineers estimated cost
at 187,000.00 for the 43 -foot
road on Goderich Street, and
$170,000.00 for the 24 - foot
scheme. The cost will be cov-
ered by the Department of
Highways under a connecting
link agreement.
Asked to suggest when the
work would be completed,
council was told final paving'
would not be until 1964, to per-
mit settling, but that the re-
built roads would be dust -free
in the meantime. `
Express Appreciation
As council was about to ad-
journ, Councillor Bell express-
ed appreciation on behalf of
the members for the contribu-
tion Mayor Daly had given
while a member, and for the
leadership he had provided.
