ONE MINUTE TO GO - In the Toronto studios of the
CBC, a smiling Earl Cameron waits his cue to start another
edition of the national television news. Cameron began read-
ing the national news in 1944 -at that time, on radio. He
was born in Moose. Jaw, Sask., 47 years ago and worked
briefly as a teacher before starting with his local station
CHAR in 1939. His goal was to do national newscasts and
one month after joining the CBC in Toronto in 1944, he
achieved it.
