Successful Bazaar

of .Hensall United Chiu'ch Sat-
urday, Dec. 1, for the UOW.
Snowflake Bazaar. Red poinset•
tas, ioliy and , evergreens "ac-
cented the .windows and atumn
flowers, flanked by red tapers
iii silver liolders, decorated the
tea tables.
The bazaar, sponsored by the
United Church Women,' was a
tremendous success with over
$500 Cleared, with patrons at-
tending from Almonte, Mich.,
London, Stratford, Seaforth,
Clinton, Centralia, E x e t e r,
Brucefield, Thames Road, Kip -
pen and Zurich.
Mrs. E. T. Rowe, ppesident,
and Mrs. H. F. •Currie formed
the reception committee, and
Mrs. Currie gave the welcome
address. Floral arrangements
were by the five units. Conven-
ers of booths were: fancy work
and aprons, Unit 1, Mrs. E.
Chipchase, leader, and assist-
ants; bake table, . Unit 2, Mrs,
,t'aek Drysdale and helpers;
Christmas novelties and knit-
ting, Unit 3, Mrs. Dave Kyle
and assistants; attic treasures
and candy, Unit 4, Mrs. James
McAllister and assistants; , tea
room, Unit 5, Mrs. W. B. Cross
and Mrs. N. E. Cook and help-
ers; hidden treasures, Mrs. C.

At a recent draw at the IGA
store in Hensall, Mrs. Ross Love
was a winner of 1,000 stamps;
Mrs. William Kyle, 425; and
Robert McGregor, 425.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Love, of
Caro, Mich., visited recently
with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Mc-
Bride and Sharon and other
relatives.

ronto.

and sons visited Friday even-
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Keith

Sunday afternoon Following an
hour of skating, a smorgasbord
turkey dinner -with all the trim-
mings was served. Santa was
present to distribute gifts and
treats to the children.
Mr. Orville Hedden, of St.
Catharines, visited over the
weekend with his brother, Herb
Redden.
Kinettes Meet
The regular meeting of the
Kinette Club of Hensall was
held at the home of Mrs. Wm. -
Clement. President Mrs. John
Heal called the meeting to or-
der by welcoming Mrs. Les
Parker, of the Kinette Club of
Exeter, as a guest for the eve-
ning. All members were pres-
ent to answer the roll.
Mrs. John Baker read sev-
eral thank -you notes from Sinit-
ic people that the members had
visited. Mrs. John Deitz, eon-
vener of ways and means, re-
ported that the Christmas cakes
would be on display in Irwin's
Ladies' Wear window -during
the week before the draw, and
will be drawn for Saturday, De-
cember 8. Mrs. Deitz also re-
ported that arrangements were
completed for the Christmas
party to be held in the arena.
A donation was sent to the Sal-
vation Army. Information was
received regarding the Kins-
men National Convention, to
be held in Hamilton in August,
1963. The next meeting will
be held Dec. 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bonthron
left Friday last by motor to•
spend their winter vacation in
Florida.
Rev. H. F. Currie will be
guest speaker at the Christmas
meeting of Hensall WI Wednes-
day, Dec. 12, in the Legion Hall
at 8:15 p.m. A splendid program
is being arranged and mem-
bers are asked to be present
to join in a period of carol sing-
ing. Roll call will be a cash
donation.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick is a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Mr. Charles Eckel is a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Mr. William Henry is a pa-
tient in Clinton Public Hospi-
tal.
Mr.and Mrs. Victor Blatch-
ford, 'of Arkona, were guests
on Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
C. L. Jinks.
Hensall Kinsmen are sponsor-
ing their annual peanut drive
this Thursday, Dec. 6, com-
mencing with a canvass of the
village at 7 p.m.

league game. Bill Shaddick led

- George Albert Jeffery, 77, RR
2, Zurich, died Saturday in
Clinton Public Hospital. Mr.
Jeffery was a retired farmer.
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs. Norman (Eva) Charrette,
RR 1, Dashwood; Mrs. John
(Rita) Barratta, London; Mrs.
Frank (Stella) Gallow and Mrs.
Reg (Muriel) Williamson, both
of Goderich; two sons, Ellis
(Bob), Goderich, and Richard,
RR 2, Zurich; two sisters, Mrs.
Delia Ducharme, Zurich, . and
Mrs. Gilbert Plante, Goderich;
'one brother, Peter, Grand
Forks, Mich., and 19 grandchil-
dren.
Prayers, were said at 8 p.m.
Monday at the Westlake fun-
eral home, Zurich. Requiem
High Mass was celebrated at
10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church, St.
Joseph. Burial followed in the
adjoining church cemetery.

opened a hardware store. He
sold the store to his son in

Mr. Beavers was secretary -
treasurer of Usborne and Hib-
bert Mutual Fire Insurance Co.
from 1934 to 1954.
He was a member of Exeter
town council from 1913 to 1918,
reeve of Exeter from 1917 to
1923, and warden of Huron
County in 1923.
He was president of the Lay --
men's Association of the •Lon-
don Conference of the United
Church in 1935 and a member
of Lebanon Masonic Lodge,
IOOF and Eastern Star, all in
Exeter. He was also an honor-
ary member of the session of
Main Street United Church, Ex-
eter.
Surviving are his wife, May;
sons, Lloyd, Birmingham, Mich.,
George, Morrisburg, and Reg-
inald, Exeter.
The body was at the Hopper -
Hockey funeral home, Exeter,
until Tuesday at noon, when it
was taken to Main Street Unit-
ed Church for service at 2 p.m.
Rev. Robert S. Hiltz officiated.
Burial was in Exeter cemetery.
