First of all, on behalf of the Legion, I wish to thank all who helped and contributed to our Poppy Fund this year. Charlie Wood, our Poppy Fund chairman, informs me that it was one of the most successful in years. Big news for the young lads and boys of the community! Jack Eisler, the sports officer, writes to say that the Legion - ' sponsored hockey program will start this year on Saturday, Dec. 15, so parents, make it a point to bring your son in to be registered on that date. Last year the Legion here sponsored 146 boys in this winter sports Boxholders' Names Not Given Out ! This is one of many of the Legion's community efforts and we all think that it is most worthwhile;•. It entails a tre- mendous amount of time, effort and work on . the part of the training staff, so cooperation from all sides is necessary to make this task a little less ardous. At this time of year the acci- dent rate usually climbs, with slippery ,sidewalks, etc., so if you are unfortunate enough to get hurt and require either a hospital ted, crutches, canes, or a wheel chair, don't hesitate to call on the Legion for help. This service is provided free, and Jake Cornish, our welfare officer, will only be too glad to help you. Coming 'this Saturday is the annual Christina's parade. Let's hope the weather is just right for a huge crowd, with hundreds of kids, as this is a big day for them. But, in closing, let's not for- get those who are stilled for- ever and will never see another Christmas parade: "At the go- ing down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember .them," KEEP SAFETY IN SIGHT While Driving At Night!
