erland being in the RCAF there.

Mrs. Emerson Mi Mitchell presid-
ed for the November meeting
of the Walton unit Wednesday
evening in the church school
room, opening with the Call to
Worship and prayer. Mrs. Jim
Clark read the scripture pass-
age from John 15:1-7. Prayer
was offered by Mrs. Mac Shol-
dice. Mrs. Geralatson read
an interesting C r mas story.
Mrs. R. Achilles re eived the
offering. The minutes of the
previous meeting and thank -you
notes were read by Mrs. Herb
Traviss. The roll call was an-
swered with the word "Peace."
Mrs. Williatn Thamer and Mrs.
Ralph-Traviss were appointed
as a nominating committe. ,' It
was decided that used Christ-
mas cards would be mailed; to
Miss Lillian Dickson in For-
mosan January. A bale of
used clothing will also be sent
the end of November. Church
members are asked to leave
clothing, etc., at the church this
month. Men's clothing is not
needed. Used stamps are to be
placed in a box in the base-
ment.
An invitation was accepted to
attend a UCW meeting in Blyth
United Church on Nov. 28, at
8:15 p.m. Mrs. Jim Clark and
Mrs. Gary Finlayson, copper
contest captains, announced that
they had received $232.60 for
the year. Mrs. Clark's side were
declared the winners. It was
decided that boxes would be
packed for shut-ins at the
Christmas party in December.
Mrs. R. Achilles gave the
treasurer's report. Mrs. Har-
vey Brown was in charge of
the Bible story. Lunch hostess-
es were Mrs. Jim Clark, Mrs.
Ernest Stevens and Mrs. Ian
Wilbee.
McKiIIpp Meeting •
The November meeting of the
McKillop Unit was held at the
manse Wednesday evening with
Mrs. A. Higginbotham as hos-
tess. Mrs. Jack Bosnian presid-
ed and opened the meeting
with a poem, "Oh Valiant
Heart" and ,prayer. A hymn
was sung with Mrs. Merton
Hackwell as pianist. The Scrip-
ture passage was read from
Ephesians 6:,10-18 by Mrs. M.
Hackwell.
Mrs. David Watson gave the
top.ic on "The Meaning of Con-
version." Reports were heard
and business conducted. A bale
is to be packed at the end of
November, An invitation 'to
Blyth thankoffering Nov. 28 .at
8:15 was accepted.., The group
are to save used stamps and cut
out, Ieaving 1% -inch of envelope
around stamp.
The Hereford banquet will be
/held in the church basement
Dec. 4, with Walton church la-
dies catering. The copper con-
test this year was won by the
side captained by Mrs. William
Leeming with a total of $93.22.
The losing side, captained by
Mri. William D' is, raised
$92,67. A gift exchange will be
held at the next meeting, not
to exceed 30 cents. -
Christmas cards were sold,
after which a delicious lunch
was served by Mrs. Charles Mc -
Gavin, Mrs. Norman Schade,
Mrs. Jack Bosman, Mrs, William
Dennis and the hostess, Mrs.
Higginbotham.
Messengers Meet
The November meeting of
the Messengers was held Sun-
day morning with Carol Wilbee
in charge of the meeting. Glen-
na Houston acted as secretary
in the absence of Velma Hig-
ginbotham. The meeting open-
ed with a hymn with Marjanne
Wildfong at, the piano. Carol
Wilbee read the Call to Wor-
ship taken from Psalm 98, verse
1, Mrs. Walter Bewley `discuss-
ed gifts with the children, then

Caroline Fraser read from
John 3, verse 16, The Ieader ex-
plained that God had given
the best gift of .all. The Wise
Men were. discussed as the first
Christmas gift given. Caroline
read Matthew 2, 10 and 11. Kar-
en Coutts, Sherrill Craig and
Barbara Bryans sang "The
Three Kings Rf Orient, accom-
panied by Mary Bewley. When
the hymn was finished the chil-
dren all brought their gifts to
the worship centre. Brenda
Bewley lit the candles and led
in a litany prayer. Sherrill
Craig and Karen Coutts col-
lected the offering and Carol
Wilbee dedicated it with pray-
er.
Glenna Houston read the min-
utes of the last meeting and
Sherrill Craig read the treas-
urer's report. The next meeting
will be a Christmas program,
with a film. Glenna Houston
will play the piano; Gary Ben-
nett and Larry Walters will
help with the worship. Mite
boxes , are to come in at the
December meeting. Everyone
went to their classes with the
following teachers assisting:

Has 93rd Birthday.
Miss Mary Mowbray observ-
ed her 93rd birthday at ' the
home of Mrs. Maud Leeming
on Thursday, Nov. 15. Guests
who came from a distance for
the dinner and to .offer their
congratulations were Mrs. Mary
Mowbray, Mrs. Hattie Glenn, of
Toronto, and Mrs. John Linton,
of Windsor.

lop, is visiting with her sister-
in-law, Mrs. Maud Leeming, this
week.
The November meeting of
the Walton Women's Institute
will be held Wednesday eve-
ning, Nov. 28, in the Commun-
ity Hall with Mrs. Roy William-
son and Mrs. Donald Buchanan
as co -conveners. Mr. Tange, a
Chinese missionary, was unable
to come to the November meet,
ing but will be available next
spring. A film on a Canadian
industry will be shown. The.
roll call will be answered with
a household chore or small
town industry now out of date.

visited with relatives in London
for a few days last week.

spent the weekend with his par-

Mrs. Lloyd Porter, last Satur-

well and family moved to their
new home east of the village
on Saturday.

weekend guests at the homes of
Mrs. Luella Marshall and Mr.

Mrs. Ida McKenzie, who has
been visiting with relatives and
friends for the past three
months, has returned to her
home in Vancouver.
Mrs.• Harvey Craig enjoyed a
two-day trip to the Royal Win-
ter Fair last Thursday and Fri-
day, which was sponsored by
the Department of Agriculture
for the 4-H leaders.
Mrs. James Gillespie, Peter-
borough, apd Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Kerr, Newmarket, were
guests at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Nelson Reid last Saturday.

ing moved to their new home
in the village last Wednesday.
They have sold their farm in
McKillop to Mr. Orville Beuer-
man.

Mr. Charles Murray and other
relatives in the vicinity.
Mrs. Walter Broadfoot visited
on Sunday at Petrolia with Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Cardiff.

have been guests at the home
of the former's nephew, Mr.
