Bill Simpson, Jr., of Birming- ham, Mich., visited o4er the weekend with his grandmother, Mrs. Lou Simpson. The Misses Flora and -Mabel Cudmore, Toronto, on Monday of this week, sold the property of their parents, the late Mr. and Mrs.' Roland Cudmore, which is situated on Brock $t., to Lorne Hay, of Hensall. Boyne, of Exeter, was guest speaker at the Arnold Circle • of Carmel Presbyterian Church at their thankoffering meeting Monday evening, who gave a most interestin and in- formative address on "Foreign and Home Missions." The speak- er was introduced by Mrs. Bev- erly Beaton and thanked by Mrs. 'R. A. Orr. President Mrs. Beaton, who chaired the meeting, welcomed members and special guests, the ladies from Thames Road United Church, and their own Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Ed. Fink and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm conducted the wor- ship. •A quartette composed of Mrs. A. Scholl, Mrs. Beaton, Mrs. H. Hoy and Mrs. W. Brown, sang. Mrs. M. Dougall accom- panied at the piano. A social hour was enjoyed and luncheon served. Hostesses were Mrs. Harold Bonthron and Mrs. Wil- liam Brown; reception, Miss Hannah Murray. "Just because you have been kept waiting," said the nurse to the expectant father, "doesn't necessarily mean the baby will be a girl."
