Anniversary services will be
held in Egmondville at 11 a.m.
and 7:30 p.m., when the guest
minister will be Rev. Ross Cros-
by, minister of St. Marys United
Church. The congregation was
formed in. 1835, with Rev. Alex-
ander McKenzie as the first
minister. The present church
building was erected 83 years
ago.

carne to Egmondville as a youth
of sixteen. For more than 35
years until his retirement in
1950, he conducted the Eg-
mondville store.
He was married in Toronto,
June 15, 1910, to the, former
Jennetta McKay, of Tucker -
smith, who survives, together
with a family of five' sons: Alex,
of Windsor; Harold, of London;
Gordon, of Timmins; Grant, of
Egmondville, and Stuart, of
London; and four daughters,
Mrs. Arthur Edmunds, Barrie;
Mrs. W. Rollins, Sarnia; Mrs.
Clair Haney, California, and
Mrs. Ray Oke, London. Also, sur-
viving are two sisters, Mrs. Vio-
let Elgie, Seaforth, and Mrs.
Mabel Kilpatrick, Sask.; and
two brothers, Robert, of Dun-
gannon, and Frank, of London;
28 grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
' The services on' Sunday were
conducted by his minister, Rev.
J. H. Vardy, from Box Funeral
Home. During the service Mrs.
Frank Kling sang "What a
Friend We Have in Jesus."
Burial was,' in Maitlandbank
'cemetery, the pallbearers be-
ing John Modeland, Alex Ches-
ney, Magistrate' H. Glenn Hays,
Goderich, Robert Tyndall, Wil-
liam Reid and John Finnigan.
Flowerbearers were Willard El-
liott, Marshall Stewart, Russell
Sproat, Gordon McGonigle, Jas.
Brown and Scott Cluff..

in Huron and adjoining 'coun-
ties.
Another feature is- the 4-11
Sweepstakes Showmanship com-
petition. This class is open to
the champion and reserve cham-
pion showman ,of 'three classes.
The winners at Blyth in the 4-11
Dairy Championship Show, at
Seaforth in the 4-11 Beef Cham-
pionship Show and at Seaforth
in the 4-H Swine Championship
show, will be eligible. The con-
testants will be required to
show an individual animal of
each of these three classes of
livestock. The winner will be
declared on the basis of all-
around showmanship with each
of the classes of stock. The win-
ner will receive -a 'silver tray,
donated by the Toronto -Dom-
inion Bank, Seaforth Branch.
Preliminary events get under
way tonight (Thursday), when
all indoor exhibits will he put
in place and judging complet-
ed. On Thursday evening an
outstanding program is being
arranged, which will be held
in the arena in conjunction with
the exhibits of merchants and
district manufacturers. T h e
arena will also be the scene of
the junior fair educational ex-
hibits. The arena displays were
arranged•by the Seaforth Cham-
ber of Commerce in co-opera-
tion with the fair board.

A successful auction sale of
livestock, machinery and furni-
ture was held at the farm of
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stevens
last Saturday afternoon. The
farm has been purchased by
Mr. Gerald Ryan, and Mr. and
Mrs. Stevens have purchased
the property of the late Hugh
Campbell.
Mr. and Mrs. Rae IppoIite, of
New York, visited last Wednes-
day and Thursday with the Tat-
ter's nephews, Mr. Herb Traviss
and Mr. Ralph Traviss. A gath-
ering of relatives was great
enjoyed at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Herb Traviss Wednes-
day evening as Mrs. IppoIite
had not been here for fifteen
years.
Miss Carrie Ruigter, of Strat-
ford, visited over the weekend
with her sister, Mrs_ Jan Van
Vliet, Sr.
During the service in Duff's
United Church last Sunday
morning, Rev. A. Higginbotham
conducted a baptismal service,
when Janet Aileen, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Flood
was baptized.
