The Brucefieki UCW held
their September meeting in the
church basement on Tuesday,
Sept. 4. The meeting was called.
to order by the president,. Mrs,
W. Broadfoot. Devotional per-
iod was , condlteted by Mrs. J.
Broadfoot and Mrs. G. Richard-
son, with Miss M. McQueen at
the piano. Mrs. E. Xhompson,
secretary, read the minutes of
the last meeting and took roll
call, which was answered by a
,favorite hymn. Treasurer's re-
port was given by Mrs. H. Tay-
lor.
During the summer' three
leaders of church young people,
Mrs. J. Boughen, Mrs. F. Mc-
Gregor and Mrs. S. Broadfoot,
attended the training school at
Alma College. These ladies gave
very interesting and informa-
tive reports of their training
program, which included the
basics for teenage groups, lead-
ership, adult Christian educa-
tion and Bible study. groups.
Correspondence was read by
Mrs. n, and Mrs. J. Broad -
foot. Invitations received from
Bayfield for Thursday, Oct. 4,
and one from Unit 4 of Bruce -
field UCW for Wednesday, Oct.
10, were discussed and accept-
ed. Mrs. L. Wilson gave a re-
port of the meeting for UCW
held at' Londesboro in May,
when the theme was "The Light
Shines On."
Mrs. L.. Ariano was in charge
of the program put on by Unit
4; entitled, "Where Are We?"
A short social hour followed,
when lunch was served by Mrs.
Triebner and her committee.
Unit No. 1,-UCW
The September meeting of
Unit No. 1 of the United
Church Women was held at
the home of Mrs. D. Triebner.
Mrs. Elgin Thompson and Mrs.
Edgar Stoll sled the devotional
portion of the meeting. Mrs.
H. Berry conducted the busi-
ness..The ladies were, remind-
ed of a meeting by Unit No. 4
in the church on October 10,
and an invitation to Bayfiel1
church on Oct. 4. The roll call
was answered by something of

In the 'absence of WS. John
Henderson, Mrs. Ed. Allan gave
the Sectional report; Mrs.I. Sik
lery, the treasurer's report, and
received 'tire offering. Mrs. A.
Dutton reported for flowers and.
cards. It was decided that we
each stake a get -well card to
the next meeting, to be held
at the home of Mrs. Ross Chap-
man on Oct. 15. It was also de-
cided to hold a rummage sale
in Clinton Town Hall on Oct.
20.
A program in charge of Mrs.
W..Broadfoot included a violin
solo by Mrs. Mac Wilson, . ac-
companied by Miss Marion
Triebner; pianq solo by Mrs.
J. Moffatt and reading and con-
test by Mrs. W. Broadfoot.
The Meeting closed with a
hymn and prayer. Mrs. Mc-
Naughton, Mrs. N. Sillery, Mrs.
T. B. Baird and Mrs. Berry, serv-
ed a delicious lunch.
•Cub Pack Meets
First Brucefield - Cub Pack
have started their second sea-
son: Meetings are held Mon-
day at 7 p.m., in Brucefield
United Church basement. Boys
between the ages of .8 and 11
are invited to attend. Cub
Pack is under the leadership of
F. J. Welland and L. Ariano.
A Scout Troop is also being
formed and meet on Fridays
in the church basement. Mr.
S. Broadfoot, Mr. J. Douglas and
two Rover Scouts are presently
looking -after and training the
troop.

Thrifty 'Kippenettes was held

minutes of the last meeting
were read and adopted. Roll
call was answered by bringing
a vegetable. Discussion for this
meeting was different methods
of selecting and cooping vege-
tables.
The dext meeting will be •held
at the home of Dianne Finlay-
son Monday evening.
