Misses Eleanor Keys, McKil- lop, and Gerda Christensen, of Seaforth, entered the School of Nursing at Kitchened-Waterloo Hospital, Kitchener, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lemon and Janet, of Bracebridge, were weekend visitors with their par-• ents here. Their son, Jackie, returned home with thein after spending a week in Seaforth and London. Mrs. John W. Talbot and Miss Barbara Talbot attended a tea at Avon Crest nurses' residence, Stratford, Tuesday afternoon, where Barbara has entered the School of Nursing. Mr. and Mrs. Neville McMil- lan and family, of Sarnia, who have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McMillan, have returned home. Mrs. E. W. Spurr, of Eureka, Nova Scotia, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. A. Y. Mcbean, and Mr. McLean. Miss Sharon Hotham has re- turned to Brantford to resume her teaching duties at King Ed- ward School there. Bruce Brady has returned from St. Thomas where he spent the past .eight weeks attending the summer skating school. While there he was successful in passing his second test and the senior bronze dance tests. • Mrs. W. P. Mrs. Norman McIntyre, of Owen Sound, was a guest of her mother, Mrs. Harry Stew- art, this week. Mrs. William Richards, the former Madge Stewart, and her daughter, Miss Maxine Rich- ards, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Les. 'McClure on Monday. Mrs. Laura Jermyn, of Brus- sels, is spending a few days at the home of Mr. A. W. Corby. Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Willis spent the weekend in Kincar- dine. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hotham and family have returned. to Windsor after spending a week with Mr, and Mrs. John Hoth- am, Wilson Street. Mrs. J. M. McMillan was able to return to her home here from Scott Memorial Hospital on Thursday. She had been a pa- tient here and in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, since last spring, when she fractured her hip in a fall at her residence. Miss Davina Johnston, of Buf- falo, N.Y., was the guest of her cousin, Miss Norma Jeffery. Miss,Elsie Drover has return- ed from a trip to Nova Scotia, where' she _visited her sister, Mrs. C. V. Ellis, and Mr. Ellis and family. Miss Mabel Turnbull has re turned after spending the sum- mer at her summer cottage at "Schadeview", near Gr a n d Bend. Her brother, .A. R. Turn- bull, and Mrs. Turnbull and daughters, Valerie and Gillian, of Walton -on -Thames Surrey, England, accompanied her. Recent visitors at the home of Rev. J. Ure and Mrs. Stewart were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morris, Mrs. MacMil- lan and Mrs. Jones, of Strat- ford; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mac- Kay and family and Mrs. Gordon MacKay. of Detroit. Mrs. Elston and Mrs. Abbot, of Centralia spent Wednesday with their cousin, Mrs. John Hotham, Wilson Street. Mrs. H. G. Marritt, James- town, N.Y., and Mrs. R. A. Wal- ter, Dundas, spent part of the weekend with Mrs. James E. Willis, after attending the Shakespearean Festival in Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mur- doch, of Detroit, spent the week end with his sister, Mrs. J. D. Cairns. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Arm- strong, Brian and Debbie, of St. Catharines, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jackson. Buchanan, Wind- sor, was a guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sharp. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Brown, of Sarnia, called on Mr, and Mrs. John Hotham, Wilson St., on Saturday. Rev, J. Ure and Mrs. Stewart attended the Toronto Exhibition and visited at the home of the former's sister-in-law, Mrs. D. G. MacLean, and also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Arnett. • . • MRS. PETER ECKERT The death occurred in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on Saturday, Sept. 1, of Teresa Loretta O'Connor, widow of the late Peter Eckert, She was the last member of a family of 10 children of the late Patrick O'Connor and Mary Ann Mat- thews, pioneers of Hibbert Township. . Mrs. Eckert was in her 87th year and had been in ill health for the past seven months. She was a highly esteemed member of the farm community of McKillop Township, to which she moved following her mar- riage to Mr. Eckert in 1901, and in the "village . of Dublin, to which she retired following his death in March, 1943. Surviving Mrs. Eckert is a family of five sons and three daughters: Joseph, on the home- stead in McKillop; Stephen and Peter, of Timinins; 1T•eN• Vincent Eckert, of Gary, Indiana; James, of Rochester, New York; (Clo- tilde) Mrs. Peter Maloney, of McKillop; (Teresa) Mrs. George Coville, of Dublin, and (Lucy) Mrs. Albert Siemon, of McKil- lop. There are , also 25 grand- children and 25 great-grandchil- dren. The funeral took place from her late residence, the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Coville, Dublin, to St. Patrick's Church, where Solemn High Mass was chanted by her son, Father Vin- cent Eckert, C.S.B., of Gary, In- diana, assisted by Rev. James Cross, C.S,B., deacon. and' Rev. Edmund Brennan, ,C.S.B.; sub - deacon. Present in the sanc- tuary were: Rev. Cyril Carter, C,S.B., Rev. Francis Sheehan, C.S.B., Rev. Norbert' Reuss, C. S.B., Rev.. Adrian Record, C.S. B., Rev. Grace Agius, C.S.S., Rev, Joseph Abend, G.S.B.: Rev. 'William McGee, C.S.B., Mr. Ed- mund Muller, C.S.B., Rev. Remi Durand, Rev. Father Coughlin, and Rev. Dr. Ffoulkes. An in- spiringeulogy was delivered by Rev. William McGee, C.S.B. Interment was in St. Colum - ban cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom :Eckert, Frank Maloney, Keith Siemon, Frank Cronin, Raymond Murray and Tom Pur- cell. The bride is the former Kathryn Ruth Sills, daughter of Mrs. C. P. Sills and the late Mr. Sills, of Seaforth, while the groom is the son of Mrs. Edward G. Kennedy, Belleville, and the late Dr. Kennedy. Mr, and Mrs. Kennedy will reside in Kitchener. CROMARTY NEWS OF THE WEEK Mrs. Hazel De Forge, who had visited her sister, Mrs. Eva Colquhoun, and' other relatives, has returned to her home in Winnipeg, Mr.. and Mrs. Harold Carey, who have occupied the Crom- arty manse for several years, have moved to Staffa to reside in the United Church parsonage and people of this village met at their home and presented them with a, farewell gift. BELL FAMILY GATHERS FOR WEEKEND OF REUNION ACTIVITY BELL REUNION The Bell reunion was held this past weekend, beginning with 65 members of the Bell clan attending a chick barbecue at Seaforth Lions Park on Sat- urday. Sunday, a number of the family attended the morn- ing service at Kippen United Church, the church which many of their ancestors had attended. On Sunday afternoon everyone visited the old Bell homestead on Highway No. 4, near Kippen; the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. F. Bell. A pic- nic supper was enjoyed and Don Bell, of Boston, Mass., showed slides in the evening. Guests were present from To- ronto, British Columbia, Gode- rich, Batavia, London, Boston, Kipper], and Hensall. This was the first time that the Bell family has held a reunion, and it has been decided to start holding reunions 'every three years. DUCHARME REUNION The Ducharme picnic was held in Seaforth Lions Park Sunday.
