BARBARA KIRKMAN MEETS
Mrs, Reg' Kerslake was hos-
tess at her summer home at
Bayfield to the Barbara Kirk-
man Auxiliary of First Presby-
terian Church on Tuesday eve-
ning. A pot-lucksupper on the
lawn, facing., the{ blue waters
of Lake Huron, as served to
twenty guests. Mrs. Kerslake,
the president, was in charge of
the meeting which followed. it
was moved and seconded by
Mrs. John E. Daley and Mrs.
Mae Dorrance, 'that we give $25
to the C.O.C. for seals for the
children. Plans were discussed
for the 60th anniversary of the
society, which will be held on
Sept. 25. Words of appreciation
were read by the corresponding
secretary, Mrs. R. K. McFarlane.
Mrs. Kerslake read the history
of the society; prepared by Miss
Belle Campbell, which was in-
augurated in November 1902 by
Miss Kirkwood. A social hour
was spent, after which Miss
Bess -Grieve extended t h e
thanks of 'the ladies to Mrs.

WEDDINGS
KNIGHT,. McTAGGART
Monerieff United Church was
the setting for the wedding of
Yvonne Marie ,$Taggart and
Leslie Robert Knight, on Satur-
day, August 25, at 2;30. The
bride . js the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Allan McTaggart, RR
2, Brussels, and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Elsie Knight,
RR 3, Brussels, and the late
Gordon Knight: Rev. A. Higgin-
botham officiated at the double -
ring ceremony.
Mrs. Lavern Godkin, of Wal-
ton, cousin• of the groom, was
organist, and Mr. Brian Prescott,
of Kitchener, was soloist, sing-
ing "0 Perfect Love," prior to
the ceremony, "Wedding Pray-
er" when the bridal party was
at the altar, and "I'll Walk Be-
side You" during the signing
of the register.
White tapers in a candelabra,
baskets of white gladioli . and
potted ferns decorated the al-
tar.
The bride chose a floor -length
gown of Chantilly lace and net.
over bridal satin, featuring a
scalloped boat neckline and full
length lily -point sleeves; lace
bodice -had a dropped waistline
with deep.V in front and back
and was embroidered with se-
quins; very full skirt and tiers
of net and lace with appliqued
medallions of lace and sequins.
A pearl and crystal tiara studd-
ed with sequins held -her finger-
tip veil of pure silk illusion, and
she carried a cascade of red
roses, white mums and trailing
ivy. The bride wore pearls, a
gift of the groom.
The maid of honor was Miss
Geraldine McTaggart, sister of
the bride, and the bridesmaids
were Miss Marguerite Sherwin,
of Hamilton, and Miss Dorothy
McTaggart, of Delaware, cousin
of the bride. The bridal attend-
ants wore identical ballerina
gowns of candy blue chrome -
spun silk with alencon lace" bo-
dice, square neckline and cap
sleeves. The skirts had unpress-
ed pleats with a shirred panel
in the back, topped with two
roses of- matching material. A
matching hat of petals and
pearls with, circular face veil,
blue satin shoes and single
strand of pearls, completed
their ensemble. They carried a
bouquet of white mums and
blue porn-poms.
Miss Kathy Ward, of Ethel,
cousin of the bride, was flower
girl, wearing a white nylon ov-
er taffeta dress, halo of blue
pom-poms, and she carried a
basket of white and blue pom-
poms. The ringbearer was Dan-
ny Caryl, of Silver Springs, New
York, nephew of the groom.
The groomsman was Harold
Knight, of Flushing, New" York,
twin brother of the •groom, and
guests were ushered by Jack
Knight; RR .2, Brussels, brother
of the groom, and Scott McTag-
gart, of •Goderich, cousin of the
bride.
Following the ceremony a
reception was held in the
church parlor, with the bride's
mother receiving, wearing a
coral sheath gown of orange
over taffeta, with a fitted full-
length -matching duster, white
accessories and corsage of white
mums. The groom's mother

Mrs. Kenneth McDonald pre-
sided for the opening exercises
and business at the monthly
meeting of the Women's Insti-
tute last Wednesday evening in
the -Community Hall. Mrs. Mc-
Donald welcomed the ladies
from the Blyth Women's Insti-
tute and all the grandmothers
who were there as guests.
Mrs. Harvey Craig gave the
minutes of the July meeting
and called the roll, which was
answered with -"a popular song
when I was in my teens." The
treasurer, Mrs. Wm. Humphries,
reported a balance of $119.29
on hand.
The September meeting will
be held Wednesday evening,
Sept. 19, with guests attending
from Brussels, Moncrieff, Ethel
and Cranbrook. Mrs. Forest Mc-
Kay, Mrs. Jim McDonald and
Mrs. Ron Bennett were appoint-
ed as' extra hostesses for the
next meeting, A request was
made for place mats and servi-
ettes to complete the display
for the Brussels fall fair. Please

Mrs; Jim Biggar, the former
Mildred Grace Deitz; of Kippen,
and now of Namaka, Alberta,
passed away in Calgary Gener-
al Hospital on Tuesday, August
21, in her 42nd year.
She is survived by her hus-
band; one son, Randy; one
daughter, Priscilla; her mother,
Mrs. Elizabeth Deitz; one broth-
er, John; two sisters, (Dorothy
Mrs. Tom Munroe; (Norma)
Mrs, William Coleman, all of.
Kippen. .
Funeral services were held
Thursday, August 23, in Cal-
gary. A brother John and sis-
ter Dorothy flew out to attend
the funeral.
HAROLD J. RATHWELL
Harold J. Rathwell, 60, died
Tuesday, August 14, in Glen-
dale, Arizona. He was a son of
the late ,Mr. and Mrs. John
Rathwell, of Goderich Township
and later of Stanley Township.
A home building contractor,
Mr. Rathwell was 'i'I'member of
the Royel Arcane Lodge and
the First Presbyterian Church
in Pheonix.
He is survived by his wife,
Jean; two sons, Pete and Jim,
all of Glendale, and a sister,

urday, August 18. with burial
in Resthaven Park, Glendale.
