FUNERALS
MRS. JOSEPH MALONE
Mrs. Joseph Malone, '50, died
in Scott Memorial Hospital,
Seaforth, on Wednesday, after
a long illness. She was ' the
former Theresa Delaney, the
daughter of the late Mr. ' and
Mrs. James Delaney.
In 1941 she was married, and
with her husband farmed on
the Malone homestead at Beech-
wood. She was a member of St.
Columban's Roman' Catholic
Church, the Catholic' Women's
League, and the League of the
Sacred Heart.
Surviving besides her hus-
band are two sons' and three
daughters: Frank, London; Paul,
Pauline, Anne and Geraldine,
at home; two brothers, Joseph
and James Delaney, Dublin; six
sisters, Mrs. Louis (Mary) Brux-
er; Mrs. Joseph (Loretta) Shea,
both of RR 1, Dublin; Mrs:
Joseph (Helen) McLaughlin, RR
2; Walton; Mrs. Charles (Ev-
elyn) O'Neill, Windsor; Mrs.
Ben (Anne) Blonde, Chatham;
Mrs. Edward (Frances) Melady,
St, Columban.
The body was at the family
home on conce'ssiori 4, McKillop,
until Saturday morning, when
removal was made to St. Colum -
ban's Church for Requiem High
Mass at 9:30. Rev. L. J. Cough-
lin was the celebrant. Rev.
Francis Moylan was present in
the Sanctuary.
Pallbearers were L e w Ls
Coyne, Jack Moylan, Jim Shea,
Vincent Maloney, Michael Mur-
ray and- Francis Hicknell. Bur-
ial was in St. Columban ceme-
tery.

AREA SCHOOL BOARD PLANS
FOR MUSIC INSTRUCTION
The regular monthly meeting
of Grey Township School Area
No. 2 Board was held at the
home of the chairman, Wilfred
Shortreed, August 13, with all
members present. The minutes
of the July. meeting were read
and adopted.
The following motions were
moved, seconded and carried by
the School Board:
That Mrs. Joanne Kings ap-
plication from Brussels for mus-
ic supervisor for Walton. School
be accepted at $375.00 per year.
That we ask for a Builders'
Risk Policy, to be held in the
name of the owner and the con-
tractor, and that equipment
will be . covered as received.
The following accounts were
paid Ontario Hydro, Clinton,
$41.52; Grey Township School
Area No. 1, music festival and
bus trip, $37.50.
The meeting was adjourned,
to be called again at the call
of the chairman. Alvin McDon-
ald is secretary -treasurer.
Walton Unit
Twenty-seven ladies • attended
the August meeting of the Wal-
ton group at the home of Mrs.
Torrance Dundas last Wednes-
day evening. Mrs. Gary Finlay-
son read the scripture and med-
itation following the opening
hymn. Mrs. Roy Huether led
the group in prayer. The topic
given by Mrs. Walter Bewley,
emphasized the thoughts on
"The Influence of the church on
people, suggestion or the writ-
ten word, and the church's place
in -.search. of world pence."
The secretary's and treasur-
er's reports were given. Roll
call was answered with the
name sof a favorite hymn. Sep-
tember roll call will be a Pro-
verb or a verse from the Book
of Proverbs. The leader men-
tioned work being done in the
church basement prior to the
fiftieth anniversary of the
church building, Sept. 23
The meeting closed with a
hymn and the benediction.

the Bible study period, after
which lunch was served by Mrs.

McKillop UCW Group
The August meeting of the
McKillop Group was held at
the home of Mrs. Leonard Leem-
ing with 10 members and one
visitor present. Mrs. J. Bosnian
presided, opening with a hymn,

Matthew 7:24-30. Mrs. G. Mc -
Gavin gave the topic from "Sig-
nals For the Sixties, Old and
New Canadians." The obligation
of the church in welcoming
New Canadians and accept
their presence here as a chal-
lenge to free ourselves from
prejudice; also, not to ignore
new friends. A discussion per-
iod followed. Mrs. D. Watson
read the poem by Mary Ellen
Barley entitled, - "Chapel of
Dreams," which was used at
the service of the cornerstone
laying at Blyth United Church.
During the business period, a
request was made for addresses
of former church members,
which are to be handed to Mrs.
Nelson Reid.
The closing hymn, "Breathe
On Me, Breath of God," was fol-
lowed by the Lord's Prayer re-
peated in unison. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Stewart McCall,
Mrs. Norman Schade and the
hostess, Mrs. Leonard Leeming.

Return from Camp
A number of area girls have
returned from t h e United
Church Camp Mimehoba on
Lake Huron. Among those at-
tending were Peggy Cornish,
Mary Ball, Christine Turnbull,
Carol and Laurie Bell, Mary
Elliott, Karen Henderson, Jan-
ette Watterworth, Rochelle Nes-
bitt, Bonnie Stewart and Jane
Shannon.

Leaders Begin.
Fall Program
Huron County 4-11 Homemak-
ing Club Leaders begin their _.
fall work during the next two
weeks, as they discuss 1,001
ways to prepare vegetables in
connection with the newly re-
vised project, "Dressing . Up
Vegetables." Sponsored by'
Home Economics Service, On-
tario Department of Agricul-
ture, training schools will be
conducted by Miss Isabelle Gil-
christ, Home -Economist for
Huron County..
It is expected that nearly 80
leaders and assistants will at-
tend the three schools at Wes-
ley -Willis United Church, Clin-
ton, on August 23 and 24; Pres-
byterian Church, Wingham, on
August 28 and 29, and Legion
Hall, Hensall, on August 30 and
31.
Through lectures and demon-.
strations, the leaders will obtain
information on such, topics as
cooking vegetables, salad and
vegetable plates, oven meals,
garnishes and relishes, and
carried lunches..
-This is presented in such a
form that it may be taught di-
rectly to the club of 12 to 26 -
year -old in the local commun-
ity. -
