W. J. Cameron and Mrs. John

'Christine Cameron, Brenda

,for ten days at Girl Guide Camp
Keewaydin. They were accom-
panied by Pat Rowe, Mrs. H.
Betts and Mrs. Tom Lavender,
who will act as leaders at the
camp.

Flt/Lt. Arthur Skidmore, who
has been posted at RCAF Sta-
tion Centralia for the past four
years, has been posted to Tren-
ton, and with his wife and
daughter, Sharron, left for that
place on Sunday. While here
Sharron was an active member
of the Hensall First Guide Com-
pany.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Little, Mar-
cia and Cheryl left Saturday for
a week's vacation at t3arrow
Bay.
Betty Lou Cameron is spend-
ing a week holidaying with rel-
atives.. in Seaforth.
Mrs. Edith McMartin, of Lon-
don, is visiting with her broth-

Sunday, August 5, union serv-
ices will be held in Carmel
Presbyterian Church and will
continue for the month of
August, •.when Hensall United
Church congregation will -unite
with them, Rev. Ross MacDon-
ald will conduct services.
Mr. and Mrs. George E. Wal-
ker and sons, Murray and Grant
have taken up residence with
Mrs. Walker's father, Mr. W.
R. Dougall, and Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Flynn have moved into
the Walker home on Queen St.
Billy Cameron is holidaying
with relatives in Kitchener.
Mrs. Oliver Jaques and Mrs.
Ross Jaques attended the fun-
eral of the late Mr. Truman
Fletcher, held from the Dinney
Funeral Home, Exeter, on Mon-
day.
Rev. and Mrs. H. F. Currie
and family are on vacation for
the month of August.
Mr. Harold (Hank) Bell has
purchased the Skidmore pro-
perty owned by ,Flt/Lt. Arthur
Skidmore, on the London Road,
and is taking up residence this
week.

On Wednesday evening a
large group of ladies of near
Mitchell gathered at Gould's
School in honor of the ap-
proaching marriage of Audrey
Elaine Priestap. The evening be
gan with a mock wedding with
the following taking part: bride,
Mrs. Robert Clark; groom, Mrs.
G. Maschke; bridesmaid, Doro-
thy Hinz; best man, Maxine
Staffen; father of bride, Mrs..
George Chowen; minister, Mrs.
Henry Fawcett; soloist, Joyce
Rolph. Solos were sung by Mrs.
A. Harris, and a reading by Mrs.
R. Morris.
The bride was then led to a
decorated chair under an um-
brella with balloons, streamers
and.. bells. Dianne Bourne read
an address and Dorothy Hinz
presented the gifts. Dianne
Bourne, Gayle Luxton and Doro-
thy Hinz helped unwrap the
gifts, which were numerous kit-
chen articles, after which Aud-
rey Elaine thanked them and
invited them all to her trous-
seau tea. Contests were held
and lunch served.
Trousseau Tea
On Saturday, July 21, be-
tween 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and
9 p.m., a trousseau tea was
held at lot 20, epn. 1, Fuller-
ton, for Audrey Elaine Priestap,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence Priestap, 'Mitchell. The
house was decorated with pink,
blue and white streamers, white
bells and summer flowers. The •
bride-to-be's mother, gowned in
figured silk i dress, and . Audrey
Elaine, in pink silk organza ov-
er taffeta, received the guests.
Misses Dorothy Hinz and Beryl
Priestap showed the gifts; Di-
anne Bourne, the linen; Joyce
Priestap, shower presents and
bridesmaids' and flower girls`
costumes; Gloria Priestap and
Audrey Chowen, the kitchen
and other articles.
In the afternoon, those pour-
ing tea were 4-H Club leaders,
Mrs, Baxter and Mrs. Morris,
and an aunt, Mrs, Walter
Priestap; in the evening, Mar-
garet Armstrong, Mrs. Arnold
Roney, Mrs. Allen McPhail and
an aunt, Mrs. R. H. Cornish. In
the afternoon those serving were
Mildred Clarke, Mrs. George
Maschke, Fanny Murray and
Audrey Chowen. In the evening
Patricia Rean y, Marjorie Krae-

er, Maxine eStaffen and Beryl
Priestap.

The bride-to-be was the re-
cipient. of _many beautiful gifts,
including a deep freeze, clock,
iron, ironing board, small•table,
linen, tablecloths, heating pad,
and many' other articles.
'Picnic .and -Swim
Ends Program
The Hensall recreation pro-
gram came to a close on Fri-
day with swimming and a pic-
nic at Seaforth Lions Park.
About 76 attended in spite of
the cool weather.
On Thursday'nf last week the
children held their penny carn-
ival, which included such things'
as bingo, fish pond, kissing
booth, fortune telling, spook
house, white .elephant booth
and refreshment booth, as well
as others. In spite of the rainy
weether the children made $19,
which provided for the pop and
ice cream for their picnic the
following day.
The biggest feature at the
penny carnival proved to be
the refreshment booth, where
freshie and homemade cook-
ies • sold like hot cakes, thanks
to the work of Beth and Caro-
lyne 'Cook, The crafts display
proved of great interest to the
mothers, who were invited to
attend the penny carnival. Spe-
cial thanks is extended to the
mothers who drove the chil-
dren to Seaforth to swim dur-
ing 'the month. •

Mitchell, on Saturday, July 28,
at 6 p.m., when Audrey Elaine
Priestap, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Priestap,
Mitchell, and Bert Versten-`
bosch, of Huron St., Stratford,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin
Vorstenbosch, RR 1, Britton, ex-
changed marriage vows before
Rev. James Ferguson, . in a dou-
ble -ring ceremony. Mrs. Joan
Gaffney, Mitchell, played the
wedding music and Miss Judy
Schneider, Stratford, cousin r of
the bride, was soloist. .
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a floor -
length gown of white silk or-
ganza over satin, appliqued
white bows with Chantilly lace
bodice, and long lily -point
sleeves. Her shoulder -length
veil was held in place by a
crown headdress edged with
pearls. Her bridal bouquet were
pink roses, an orchid and feath-
ered white daisies.
The bride's sister, Miss Joyce
Priestap, Guelph, was maid of
honor, wearing a gown of soft
blue nylon organza over satin,
and full skirt. She carried • a
corsage of feathered carnations,
ferns and pink roses.
Miss Dianne Bourne, Mitchell,
and Miss Gayle Luxton, Owen
Sound, as bridesmaids, were
costumed identical to the maid
of honor, carrying pink roses;
ferns and carnations.
Beatrice Thomson, Kippen,
and Cindy Cornish, Goderich,
cousins of the bride, as flower -
girls, wore,,.pink nylon organza
with Chantilly lace jacket and
a crown of pink roses, carrying
a basket of white Shasta dais-
ies, and pink and blue lark-
spur.
John Priestap, brother of the
bride, RR 3, Mitchell, was best
man, and Gordon Moore, Strat-
ford,' Ken Henry, RR 1, Brit-
ton, and Larry Stokes, London,
ushered.
A reception was held at the
bride's home, Fullerton, when
the bride's mother received the
guests, wearing blue silk with
pink accessories and corsage of
pink roses.
For a wedding trip . to New
York, the bride changed" to a
brown suit with• gold accessor-
ies. The couple will reside • at
Fullerton.
Quests were present from
Hensall, Parry Sound, Stratford,
Kingston, London, Milverton,'
Woodstock, Goderich, Kippen,
Mitchell, Clinton, Owen Sound
and Brodhagen.
The bride is a granddaughter
of Mr. Robert Thomson, Kip -
pen.

Miss Mary Dixon, of Clande-
boye, whose marriage to James
Orr, of Hensall, took place Sat-
urday', July 28, at 3 p.m. in St.
1V.i'ary's Anglican Church, Brins-
ley, was honored at several
showers prior- to marriage.
Members • of St. Mary's An-
glican Church, • Brinsley, and
community honored her Thurs-
day evening with a presenta-
tion, with guests welcomed by
Mrs. Harvey Hodgins. A pres
teflon address to the bride -elect
was read by Mrs. Murray Ham-
ilton. Mrs. Neil Romphf, Lucan,
and Miss Blanche Rollings, of
Clandeboye, assisted in open-
ing gifts. Mrs. Jim Hyde, Hen-
sall, was hostess for a kitchen
shower.
.The staff of South Huron Hos-
pital, Exeter, held a miscellan-
eous shower in , the auxiliary
room. Miss Dixon has been on
the staff for four years. Other
showers• were given by Mrs,
Tom Watson, aunt M the bride,
at Lucatl, and Mrs. Wes "Calcott,
Mooreville.

The Rev. R. Channing Jeihnsgn,
of the Episcopal Church of At-
tica, performed the double -ring
ceremony. On either side of the
altar were ivory candles against
a bank' -of ferns, and to the
front -was a large basket of
white delphiniums and apricot -
colored carnations. Rudolph
Kremer was the organist.
The bride was escorted to the
altar by a cousin, la, R. Mc-
Ewen, Toronto. She wore an af-
ternoon -length gown of • cham-
pagne -color Piarisian silk rib-
bon lace of her own design.- It
was styled with a -sen1i-full
skirt, fitted basque bodide and
matching flared capelet. Her
headpiece was a matching lace
pillbox with short circular veil,
and She carried a sheaf of full-
blown Talisman roses.
The maid of honor was Miss
Lorna McLean, of Forest Hills,
L.I., sister of of the bridegroom.
She wore an afternoon -length
gown of- apricot peau d'ange
with fitted bodice, portrait neck-
line and dome skirt. Her acces-
sories were matching, and she
carried a bouquet of cymbidium
orchids and apricot carnations.
Miss Irene Downey, of 103
Eddy St„ was bridesmaid, and
was gowned like the maid of
honor.
The mother of the bride wore
a draped chiffon gown of sky
blue with matching flower hat
and a corsage of pink Sweet-
heart roses. The bridegroom's
'mother was gowned in an apple
green draped sheath of silk
chiffon with matching silk or-
gandy petal hat. Her corsage
was of pink Sweetheart roses.
Bruce Holmes, of Elmhurst,
L.I., was best man. Ushers were
Richard _Locke, of 114 Heights
St., Spencer Ferris, of 904 N.
Tioga St., and Bruce Dean, of
224 'Ridgedale Rd.

The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Duncan McEwen, of Van-
couver, 13.C., and the late Mr.
McEwen, formerly of Hensall.
She graduated from the
Unidersity of Alberta in Ed-
monton, and Michigan State
University. She is a .textiles
and clothing specialist in the
New York State College ` of
Home Economics at Cornell Un-
iversity. The bridegroom's 'par-
ents are Prof. True McLean and
Mrs. McLean, of 307 Forest
Drive. He graduated from
Cornell Universityin fine arts
and music and is the owner of
McLean China Co., Ithaca, N.Y.
Before her marriage the bride
was honored with a luncheon
given by Miss Downey and Mrs.
jay Yerka at Miss Downey's
apartment. A dinner party was
given by Albert Brand, of the
Statler Club; a shower and
luncheon given by Mrs. D. L.
McMurry, Miss Frances Spratt
and Miss Frances Young, at the
McMurry home; and a rehears-
al dinner given at Cayuga Inn
by the parents of the bride-
groom.
Guests attended from Van-
couver, B.C., Toronto, Sarnia,
Hensall, Ottawa, Washington,
DrC., Freeport, •LL, Rochester,
Buffalo and New York City.
