of Ann Arbor, Michigan, visited
several days in the village and
surrounding area last week in
an attempt to secure informa-
tion of their ancestors, wha liv-
ed in the village in the 1530's,
their names having been Mor-
ton and Abbey. At that time
a store and tavern were built,
as well as a church and school,
also a home, believed to be
on the site of the home now
occupied by Mr. and Mrs How-
ard Preszcator. Members of the
family were buried in the lo-
cal cemetery and tombstones
are still intact to prove name
and date.
The ambition to complete this
family tree was of great inter-
est, not only to the families
concerned, but also to the peo-
ple of the village, whose know-
ledge always grow with the
interests of others and which
some day aright be of great
value in—the_ history of Hullett
in Huron County.

'HIRAM PROCTOR.
• Funeral services were held in
Perrins Funeral Chapel, New
Liskeard, recently for Hiram
Proctor, a pioneer .resident of
that district, who died in New
Liskeard and District Hospital
following a brief illness. He
was 86.
Rev. T. A. Duke, of St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church at
New Liskeard, officiated, assist-
ed by Rev. A. C. Young, of Cal-
vin Presbyterian Church, North
Bay.
Born in Hullett Township,
Huron County, Jan. 24, 1876,
Mr. Proctor went to Temiskam-
ing in 1906. He married the,
former Mary Elliott, also of
Hullett Township that same
year. They celebrated their
56th wedding anniversary June
6
For many years he was an
employee of the Ontario North-
land`Railway. He was a member
of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, the Royal Arch Chap-
ter and a life member of Tem-
iskaming Dodge AF and AM'
No. 462. He held a 50 -year jew-
el in the lodge. A Masonic serv-
ice was held at the chapel two
days prior to the service.
Surviving are his wife; two
sons, Carl, Kirkland Lake, and
Reg, North Bay; two daughters,
(Lenna) Mrs. R. Ackroyd, North
Bay, and (Mildred) Mrs. F.
Hinds, New Liskeard; one sis-
ter, Mrs. C. W. Wilson, Caspar,
Wyoming; 10 grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
