Stewart, 9 South Park St., Belleville, died suddenly in the workshop of his home on Wed- nesday evening, July 4, when he was stricken with a heart' attack. He was found by mem- bers of his family. Dr. Stewart was born near Cromarty 62 years ago, being the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart, and as a child moved with his parents 'to Sea - forth. After receiving his prim- ary and secondary education here he entered the School of Dentistry of the University of Toronto and graduated ire 1924 and in that same year he op- ened a .practice in Belleville, which he continued until last year 'When he retired to spend more time at• his hobbies. He was an excellent painter and enjoyed working at this fascinating art. He was an ardent angler and gun collec- tor and his collection of guns was highly prized. Dr. Stewart was also an excellent wood- worker and he spent many hap- py hours in his retirement mak- ing articles for his .home and his friends. He enjoyed a wide circle of friends who will sin- cerely regret his sudden death. A member bf Tabernacle United Church, he is survived by his wife, the former Mary Oliver; one son, Rev. Robert H. Turk- heim, Zurich, and the groom i the son of Mr. and Mrs. William N. Billington, London. The Rev. A. J. Datats, Brampton, offici- ated at the ceremony, assisted by the local q,astor, Rev. W. P. Fischer. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a door - length gown of silk organza over tulle and taffeta, featur- ing Chantilly lace motifs sprin- kled with pearls and sequins. The bodice was fashioned with a drop waistline, cap sleeves and a scalloped Scoop neckline. The full bouffant skirt swept to a chapel train. A crown of pearls held a double illusion veil. She carried a cascade of red roses, stephanotis and ivy. . Attending the bride were Miss, Jane Horton, Hensall, as maid of honor; Miss Ruth Haberer, Zurich, as bridesmaid, and Miss Carol Stewart, of London, as junior bridesmaid. They wore matching gowns of pink corde taffeta featuring a bell-shaped skirt and lace bod- ice. They carried cascades of pink Delight roses, white frenched mums and ivy. Flower - girl, Miss Cheryl Turkheim, cousin of the bride, were a dress of pink silk organza with appliques of embroidery and lace. She carried a basket of white poms and pink ros- ettes. Groomsman was Mr. John Elliot, London, and guests were ushered by Mr. Donald Gascho, Hamilton, and Mr. Robert Bar- ber, London. Receiving at a reception in her home, the bride's mother wore a gown of soft green crepe, featuring a draped bodice and sheath skirt with side drape, contrasting white accessories, and corsage of white feathered carnations. She was assisted by Mrs. Billington, the groom's mother, who wore a shell pink organza sheath dress featuring a front paneled skirt accented by sticatache braid with match- ing accessories, and corsage of pink Delight rosettes. For travelling, the bride chose blue lace over taffeta with matching crystallete red- ingote, white accessories, cor- sage of pink sensational roses and stephanotis. Guests were present from Burlington, Brampton, Hamil- ton, Toronto, Richmond Hill, Sarnia, Southampton, St. Marys, Preston, Lon do n, Centralia, Hensall and Zurich. Both Mr. and Mrs. Billington are graduates of London teach- ers' College, and are on thle teaching staff of the city. Stewart, and two sisters, Mrs. J. K. (Marjorie) Robertson, of Oakville, and Mrs. A. D. (Mil- dred) Niles, of Cooksville. The funeral was held on Sat- urday afternoon from the Grant Funeral `Home, with interment in Belleville cemetery. DUFF'S UCW ENTERTAIN MOTHERS AND SMALL CHILDREN Members of the UCW enter- tained the mothers and their small children of Duff's United Church on the lawn at the home of Mrs. E. Mitchell Friday af- ternoon. Mrs. Nelson Reid wel- comed all the - mothers and their children, also thanked Mrs. Mitchell for the use of her home. She explained that since the inauguration of the new or- ganization there is no more Baby Band, but it eomes under another name, Nursery Roll and Kindergarten in Christian Ed- ucation. Wesley Hackwell chose for her talk, "Train up a' child the way *e should go and when he is old . he will not depart from it." She told of a little' care- free girl, who after the home was broken up, lived • with- first one family, then anether, and this soon caused a discipline problem. It shows' the impor- tance of proper child care. The care of children is' distinctly a Christian attribute. Mrs. Gordon McGavin read three poems, "What Heaven is Like", "Wonder" and "Grand- ma's Version of Heaven." Mrs. Jan Van Vliet, assisted by Miss Eileen Williamson, con- ducted a number of motion songs and games with the chil- dren, which were greatly en- joyed. The ladies served lunch and treated the children to chocolate milk. ' Walton Unit Meeting The monthly meeting of , the Walton Unit of Duff's United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Peter McDonald Wed- nesday evening,. July 11, with 26 members attending. Mrs. Emerson Mitchell open- ed the meeting with the Call to Worship and prayer: The open- ing hymn was followed with meditation on "The Church's Place in the Community," b3 Mrs. Ian Wilbee. Mrs. Herb Traviss gave the topic entitled, "Old and New Canadians." Mrs. R. Achilles gave the treasurer's report and Mrs. H. Traviss re- ported on the June meeting. The roll call was answered with a favorite verse of scripture. Mrs. -Ralph Traviss reported on the menu for a coming wed- ding.
