KITTY NOTES
There has been a Iot of ac-
tivity at the locale greens this
summer, with the greatest num-
ber of new bowlers turning up
for enjoyable games during the
week. President Clarence Wal-
den is very. pleased with the
results and hopes • that still
more will take advantage of
the 'finest greens in this dis-
trict. Incidentally, Ed. Warneke,
the groundskeeper, deserves
the credit for having the greens
in such fine shape,,and in spite
of -the hot summer has keep
them soft and green.
An inter -club Saturday night
competition has started between
Goderich, Clinton and Seaforth
with the first being held in
Clinton „Jest Saturday. Thirty-
two froth Seaforth went up to
play, and came home with first
prize. The winning team was
Ella Monro, Marie Muir and•F.
C. J. Sills, skip, Next Saturday
they go to Goderioh.
On Monday evening an out-
sidemixed trebles tournament
waheld at the local greens
with 90 bowlers participating.
First prize Arent to Fred Elliott,
of Clinton, with the remaining
being won by Ernie Pridham,
Goderich; -Hugh Hawkins, Clin-
ton; Emmerson Gunning, Mit-
chell, and Harvey Scrimegour,
Goderich.
The game was followed by a
very nice lunch, put up by the
Seaforth ladies.
On Tuesday night the prelim-
inary rounds for the Provincial
Playdowns, in doubles competi-
tion, were played in Seaforth.
In a tight game, the Seaforth
rink of Jack Muir and F. C. J.
Sills edged out the Stratford
pair of Jack Ross and Don
Purdy.
The Seaforth pair will now
advance to the' playdowns in
West Lorne in a week's time.
If they are successful in suc-
ceeding playdowns, they go. to
Dramptoi , ° to Winnipeg,. to

STAFFEN REUNION
Races and contests were en-
joyed by members of the Staf-
fen family when.. they gathered
at Queen's Park, Stratford, for
a reunion.,
Arrangements for the com-
petitions were' made by a
sports committee composed of
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Staffen,
Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Staffen, Clinton, and Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Staffen, Seaforth.
Winners were as follows:

to eight, Patsy Staffen; men's
walking race, Don Vance;
throwing jar ring around bot-
tle, George Gibb; throwing ball
through ring, Don Vance; hang-
