Mrs. James McNaughton and, Mrs. Wilmer Broadfoot were in charge of the devotions. The meeting opened with all repeating the Creed. and a .hymn was sung with Mrs. Mur- doch at the piano. The secre- tary s report was given, by Mrs. John Henderson, and the treas- urer's report and offering re- ceived by Mrs. Irving Sillery. Mrs. Berry took charge for the business part. Mrs. Murdoch thanked the ladies for serving at their 50th anniversary and presented the Unit with a cheque. Mrs. M. Triebner con- ducted two contests. Mrs. David Triebner and Mrs. Mac Wilson contributed solos. The meeting closed with a hymn and prayer. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Stoll, Mrs. W. Broadfoot and Mrs. Walters. OBITUARIES 'DAWSON REID The sudden passing of Daw- son Reid on Saturday, June 16, in Guelph Hospital, was a shock not' only to his family, but to many friends in Seaforth as well. Mr. Reid was the son of the late James F. Reid and Annie Dawson. He attended public school and Seaforth Co'. legiate Institute. A veteran of ,the First Wa:, he served overseas in the 161st Battalion, and played in the Battalion Band. For several years he was on the staff of Seaforth Post Office prior to his appointment as customs officer in Guelph. He retired from that position a year ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Grace Louise Bar- ber, and one daughter, Sharon, of Toronto. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Hazel Reid, of Seaforth, and Mrs. Frank Cud - more, Wallaceburg; ..and two brothers, Dalton' L., of town„ and Reg S of ,Stratford. An- other brother," William Ralph (Dave) predeceased 'him in 1940. The funeral was held Monday from McIntyre Wilkie Funeral Home to Westminster St. Paul Presbyterian Church, Guelph. Ford and family are in Wellington, near Belleville,.• this week attending the funeral of Mr. Ford's fath- er, the late Frederick Ford, who died Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cornwall, Min- nedosa, Man., visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Atkinson. Northside UCW Has Meeting The, June meeting of Unit 2 of Northside United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Ross Savauge on Tuesday evening. The president, Mrs. Jas. Scott, was in the chair. The devotion- al part of the meeting was tak- en by Mrs. William Leeming. The rolI call was answered by suggestions for beautifying the town. • The treasurer, Mrs. F. Storey, reported net`proceeds from the spring tea to be around $75.00. Mrs. James Scott is to be made a life member with part of the proceeds from the tea, and a second life member was to be decided on later. Plans were made for the strawberry sup- per to be held on June 19. Mrs. George Addison reported on the regional sectional meeting held in Londesboro on May 30.
