Mr. and Mrs. Victor Deichert
were pleasantly surprised on
Sunday last, at noon when their
family gathered to celebrate
their 45th wedding anniversary.
A delicious and bountiful din-
ner was prepared by the fam-
ily.

On May 16, 1917, Miss Jose-
phine Kalb$eiseh, Dashwood,
became the bride of 'Victor
Deichert. They were married
at the home of the bride's par-
ents, and were attended bS Mr.
George Deichert and Mrs. El-
more Datars, the former Laura
Schumacher.
After their marriage they
made their home on the Blind
Line, lived for a few years in
the Staffa district, and then re-
turned to the Blind Line. They
are now residing, in zurich.

Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Hess,
and Mrs. Mary Haugh and son,
Neil, attended the 25th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Gladwin Westlake, of Bayfield,
held at Russeldale Hall, Satur-
day evening. Seventy relatives
and friends attended from Bay-
field, London, St. Catharines,'
Brucefield, Goderich, Centralia
and Exeter. The couple were
presented with many lovely
gifts, A mock wedding and a
brief program highlighted the
entertainment. Mrs. Geo. Hess,
who was soloist for the mock
wedding, also sang a solo, "How
Great Thou Art." Mrs. West-
lake is the former Marybell
Carnie, of the Bronson Line,
and a cousin of George Hess.
Auxiliary Meets
A►t Huronview
Huron County Iadies' Auxil-
iary to Huronview, Clinton,
held their May meeting in the
craftroom of the Home Tues-
day afternoon, May 22.
The treasurer's report was
most gratifying, having been
recently augmented by $125.00,
which was won by three of the
members, with Superintendent
Harvey Johnston having taken
part„ as contestants in the TV
program over CFPL, London,
"Take Your Choice." Those
taking part were Mrs. Fred
Thompson, Mrs. W. C. Bennett,
Clinton; Mrs. Lorne Scrimgeour,
Blyth, and Mr. Harry Johnston.
Mrs. Gordon Cunninghame re-
ported Lloyd Holland had pre-
sented an enjoyable concert for
the residents of Huronview,
and several musical evenings
are promised by other artists.
The Kippen Women's Insti-
tute will sponsor the June birth-
day party at, the Home. '
Letters of appreciation were
read•by the secretary from Mrs.
N. Drew, provincial director of
Homes for the aged; also from
Huron County Council, by
their secretary, John G. 'Berry.
These letters commended the
auxiliary on the fine work they
are doing for the residents of
Huronview.
Plans were finalized for the
third anniversary tea, sponsor-
ed by the auxiliary,to be held
at Huronview, June 6, from
2:30 until 4:30. Conducted tours
of the Home are being arrang-

degree, majoring in History.
He plans to attend the teach-
ers' summer school in Lon-
don and has accepted a posi-
tion on the High School
staff at Hamilton in the fall,

ROBERT J. PATERSON
HENSALL — Residents of
Hensall and community learn-
ed with regret of the passing
of Robert J. Paterson, highly
esteemed resident of the vil-
lage, who passed away in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London, on
Sunday, May 27, in his 73rd
year.
A native of Hay Township
and resident of Hensall for 44
years, he was beloved by every-
one and was one of the finest.
He was a former businessman
here.He was a member of
Hensall United Church and
member of the AF and AM Hur-
on Lodge 224, Hensall, and sec-
retary -treasurer of Hensall Un-
ion Cemetery board.
Surviving . are his wife, the
former Edna Horton, and one
son, Raye, of Hensall.
Largely attended public fun-
eral services were held Tues-
day from the Bonthron Funeral
Chapel, conducted by Rev. Cur-
rie Winlaw, who paid fitting
tribute to the life of the de-
ceased. Interment was in Exe-
ter cemetery: Pallbearers were

Ferg, Tom Lavender, Laird
Mickle, Robert ,J. Drysdale and
Robert Cook. The floral tri-
butes were many and beautiful.

Presbyterian . Church, Hensall,
on Sunday, with Rev. W. A.
Young, B.S.A„- D.D., a former
minister of the church and at
present chaplain -of the Ontario
Agricultural College, , Guelph,
guest speaker Or the day, who
delivered very inspiring and in-
formative messages. Rev. Ross
MacDonald, minister of ,this
ch, introduced the speaker.

flowers decorated the church
for the occasion.
Under direction of Mrs. Mal-
colm Dougall, the junior choir
sang "Jesus Is Calling” and
numbers by the senior choir
included, "The Lord is My
Light", soloists Mrs. John Love
and ' lylrs. Harold Bell; "Break
Forth Into Joy" and "God Will
Answer Prayer", soloist, . t'Mrs.
William Brown.
Mrs. Laird Mickle attended a
tea on Saturday afternoon in
London in honor of Miss San-
dra MacMillan, at the home of
Mrs. Keneth Hodgins, • at
Orchard Park.
Mrs. William Cole, who has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, is recuperat-
ing at the home of her son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Cole.
Rev. W. A. 'and Mrs. Young,
of Guelph, were guests Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bon-
thron.
Hensall Kinettes, meeting at
the home of Mrs. Harold Knight
Tuesday evening, decided to re-
adopt their child in Italy for
another year through the Cana-
dian Save and Children Fund.
It was announced that their
new district convener for 1962-
63 is Mrs. Stan Green, of Dres-
den. Mrs. Homer Campbell,
who joined as a new member,
won the raffle prize.

Secretarial Science Options.
Gwen will teach in the North-

nia in September.

and Bob attended convocation
at the University . of Western
Ontario on Friday, when the
former's son, Charles, graduat-
ed with his Bachelor of Arts
Degree. Mr. and Mrs. William
Mickle, Mrs. Florence Joynt
and Miss Ann Mickle were pre-
sent afterward for the recep-
tion on the University grounds.

Editor's Task
Jack Drysdale, or Honsall,
one of the district's most en-
thusiastic Kinatnen, ,add'ed an-
other honor to his list of sery-
ice club awards at the conven-
tion at Niagara Falls, Editor of
the Hensall Club this year, he
won the John Brooker junior
trophy for producing the best
bulletin among clubs of thirty
members or less during the
past year. Jack is a past presi-
dent of the Hensall club and a
past district secretary. He was
named "Kinsman of the Year"
in 1959.

at the Hensall ,Kinsmen Club
dinner meeting Thursday night,

leaving shortly for Northern
Quebec, was pleasantly surpris-
ed Tuesday evening when fif-
teen friends met at her home
to honor her with a farewell
party- and 'to present her with
two crystal vases and a candy
dish, Mrs. Gordon Munn doing
the honors. Mrs, MacDonald,
mother of Mrs. Pincent, receiv-
ed a broach and matching ear-
rings. A recreational period of
charades was enjoyed, and
luncheon served.
