UCW Have Meeting
Thirty ladies of Kippen UCW
attended the regular meeting
on Tuesday evening in the
schoolroom of the church. �IIrrs.
Eldon Jarrott was in chargc:of
the worship service with Moth-
er's Day as the theme. Mother's
Day began May 10, 1908, by
Mrs. Anna Jarvis as a tribute to
her mother,
The president, Mrs. Harold
Jones, took charge of the busi-
ness period. It was decided to
cancel the strawberry supper
for this year because of a wed-
ding to be catered to in June.
Mrs. William Bell moved a vote
of thanks to Mrs. Robert J. El-
gie for her gifts of a fern to
the church. Mrs. Emerson Kyle
and Mrs. Eileen Consitt,' are to
be delegates to attend the re-
gional meeting of the UCW at
Grand Bend on May 31. Mrs.
Eldon Jarrott read thank -you
notes - from Mrs:- Joe Lostell,• the
Finkbeiner family " and Mrs.
Ken McLellan. Mrs. Edgar Mc-
Bride reported she and Mrs.
Robert D. Elgie had made five
calls on theshut-ins for the
month .of April,
The study was ,taken by Mrs.
Emerson 'Kyle from the' study
book,` and also gave a suitable
resiling ,on "A Parable For
Mother." At the conclusion of
the meeting, Rev. H. Johnston
showed slides of different types
of scenery which he had taken
and was much enjoyed. Mrs.
Ralph' Turner expressed . ap-
preciation for those taking part
in the meeting. A bale of used
clothing will be packed' this
month. Lunch was' served by
Group Two, with Mrs. William
Kyle and Mrs. Eileen Consitt
in charge.
Christian Family Sunday
Christian Family Sunday was
held Sunday in .St. Andrew's
United Church, Kippen, with
the pastor, Rev. Harold John-
ston, in charge of. the service.
The church was tastefully dec-
orated .by Mrs. Emerson Kyle
and Mrs. Ron Littleton, with
several varieties of spring flow-
ers and birds, too. The junior
choir was under the direction
of Miss Jean.Ivison,- and' --extra
flowers were placed by the
families and in memory of the
late Robert J. Elgie and the
late Elston Dowson.
Four babies were baptized:
Vicky Lynn, infant daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Be,l;` Lori
Margaret, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Leonard Lovell; Robin Dar-
lene McLellan, • daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mc Lellan,
and Sue Ann -Finlayson, daugh-
ter of Mr, and ,Mrs: Laird 'Fin-
layson.

A GREY TOWNSHIP man
has left for Pictou Island;
Nova Scotia, to take up a
Presbyterian Church Mission
Post. James Perrie, B.A., son
of Mr. and 'Mrs. W. J. Perrie,
of Grey Township, left last
week for his new post. The
appointment was made by the
Board of Mission of the Pres
byterian Church in Canada.
Mr. Perrie will return to his
studies at Knox College in
September.

on the importance of soil sam-
pies, and each boy is required

spoke on soil improvements.
