1908, the son of Mrs. John Her-
hert and the late Mr. 'Herbert.
Re was a _graduate of Mitchell
Thigh School and the University
of WesternOntario,- and taught
high school for a '-number of

Was purchasing agent for the
.E. G. M. Cape Construction.Co.
• in Montreal, and also taught
special classes at Sir George
Williams University.• He was a
member of the . Evangelical
Church of the Redeemer.
Surviving are bis wife, the
former Marie Malloy; his moth;
er, of Mitchell; two brothers;
Frederick, of Logan Township,
and his twin, John, principal, of
Ingersoll, Collegiate, and one
sister, Gertrude Herbert, Santa
Monica, California.
His personal friend and pas-
tor, the Rev. William Noelting,
cpndy.cted a service at the Clark
funeral home, Montreal, Tues-
day, after which the body was
brought to Mitchell- to the
Heath - Leslie fune1al home,
where Mr. Noelting, of Mont-
real, officiated at the service
on Thursday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock. Interment took place
in Grace Lutheran cemetery,
Mitchell.

HOLDS .A NUAL MEETING
The Seaforth Women's Insti-
tute held their annual meeting
at the home of Mrs. Leonard
Strong on Tuesday, at 8130 p.m.
A good attendance of members
and visitors was present. Mrs.
James Keys was chairman for
the business part of 'the meet-
ing. The roll call was answer-
ed by the payment of fees for
the coming year.
Correspondence was read by
the secretary, Mrs. Wilfred
Coleman. Thank - you notes
Were from Wilfred Coleman; a
letter from Huronview, stating
that there would be 10 birth-
days in April. Mrs. Jas. Keys
and Mrs. R. J. Doig were ap-
pointed a committee to pur-
chase these gifts.

Community singing was en-
joyed by everyone present. The
motto, "The future depends on
people who can discipline them-
selves," was very ably given by
Mrs. Earl Papple. Mrs. John
MacLean spoke ° on the new
handbook and promised the
members a quiz in the near fu-
ture. A duet by Mrs. William
Strong` and Sharon Strong, "A
Little Bitty Tear Let Me Down,"
was much enjoyed. `
This being the annual meet-
ing, the secretary read the min-
utes of last year's annual meet-
ing. The treasurer's report was
given by 3>t'rs. Ross Gordon; aud-
itors' report by Mrs. Andrew
Crozier; citizenship report was
read by Mrs. Lorne Carter; edu-
cation report by Mrs. Andrew
Crozier; Canadian Industries re-
port by Mrs. Gordon Elliott;
health report by Mrs. John Mac-
Lean; historical research -report
by Mrs. Gordon MacKenzie.
Election of officers for 1962-
63 was conduct by Mrs. John
MacLean. Mrs,Wilfred Wilfred Cole-
man was nominated for secre-
tary of the election: Report of
the nominating committee was
given py Mrs; Alex Pepper.
This report was accepted and
Mrs. John MacLean .conducted
the installation for the new
year.
President for the year 1962-
63, Mrs. James Keys, returned
to the chair and new business
was discussed. Mrs. G. MacKen-

in marirage to Mr. Albert Alex-
ander Pepper. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
J. Doig, of RR 1, Dublin, and
the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. William R. -Pepper,
Seaforth. The Rev. J. C. Brit -
top officiated, and the wedding
music was played by Miss Jean
Hillen, of London. Mrs. Betty
Feagan, Wingham, was soloist.
The bride, given by her fath-
er, chose a full length gown of
Chantilly lace and net over
bridal taffeta with a- fitted
bodice trimmed with sequins
and long lily point sleeves. Her
fingertip veil was held by a
pearl crown, and she carried a

Mr. and Mrs. Jack McIver
marked their twentieth wed-
ding anniversary on Friday.
They were married in St. Col-
umban's Church on April 6,
1942, by Rev. F. J. O'Drowski,
Mrs. McIver, the former Mary
Rowland, is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Dominic
Reynolds, and Mr. McIver is
the son of the late Mr .. and
Mrs. John McIver.
On Saturday evening they
were honored by the family at
a dinner held in the Huron
Hotel, Dublin.

The Young People's Society
of Carmel Church, met Monday
evening in the church and held
a social evening and entertain-
ed as their guests the YPS of
Teeswater Presbyterian Church.
President Wayne Love presid-
ed. A program was presented
and refreshments served. •
Mr. Duncan Stewart is a pa-
tient in the Muir Nursing Home
in Seaforth.

Combines Move
To Championship
Hensall-Zurich Combines clos-
ed in a bit more on the On-
tario Hockey Association Junior
"D" finals Monday night by
whipping New Hamburg Hahns
11-4.. Hensall leads the best -of -
five semi-final series, 2-0. One
game was tied.
Jerry Borne scored four goals
for the Combines and Bill. Shad-
dick and Earl Wagner each
scored twice. Murray Bell,' Ger-
vald Overholt and Brian Bon
thro,n scored the others.
Jim Leu, Gary Stoddart, Brian
Pfaff and 'Keith Brenner scored
for the Hahns.
Messrs. Jack and Dan Bur-
chill spent Tuesday in Toronto.
Miss Nancy Lannin, Teach-
ers' College, Stratford, is prac-
tice teaching in Wingham school
this week.
Mrs. Mary Malcolm accom-

Mrs. Earl Roney recited a
poem.

honor and wore a powder blue
peau de sole sheath.,with a blue
chiffon three-quarter length ov-
erskirt, and a matching veil'
hat rand gloves.
The bridesmaids . were Miss
Carol Pepper, sister of the
groom, in an identical dress of
strawberry pink; and Miss El-
sie Doig and Miss Roba Doig,
sisters of the bride, who wore
identical outfits in mint green,
and pale gold. The matron of
honor and bridesmaids carried
bouquets of white mums, trim-
med with net to match their
dresses.
Mr. Mervin Pepper, Seaforth,
cousin of the groom, was best
man. Ushers were Mr. Charles
Dungey, Seaforth; Mr. Fred
Lobb, of Brucefield, and Mr.
Dwayne Tinney, Exeter.
For a reception in the church
parlor, the bride's 'mother re-
ceived the -guests in a flowered
green silk sheath and match-
ing jacket with green and
black accessories, and a corsage
of yellow roses. The groom's
mother assisted, in a flowered
green and mauve sheath and
matching jacket with beige ac-
cessories and a corsage of yel-
low noses.
For travelling to the United
States and Ottawa, the bride
chose a blue peau de soie sheath
and matching jacket with black
accessories; and a corsage of
pink roses. She carried a white
camel hair coat. The couple
will reside at RR 3, Seaforth.
