LEGION CORNER
By JACK HOLLAND
Well, Comrades and friends,
here we are into March anda
_
busy month it's going to be. A
couple of weeks ago I was up
to the SDHS to see a demon-
stration of drills and games put
on by the local Boy Scouts.
Cuts and Girl Guides, and it
was a most pleasant surprise.
There were over 160 boys and
girls present, which in itself is
retnarkable, and our hats must
come off to the different group
and pack leaders for all the
time and effort that they have
put into Scout training. The
camp that they are going to
build .on Harry McLeod's farm
is a great thing for this dis-
trict; it will certainly be a focal
point fore,, lot° of Scout activi-
ties' and a project such as this
deserves the support of the en-
tire community, so let's all get
behind it and give it a boost.
Our bingos continue to be
well patronized, and by the
way, George Hays, let's have
another stag euchre in the not
too distant future.
This week we have our regu-
lar meeting on Thursday night;
hope to see you all there, and
with the month getting along,
shure and begorra in another
week or so the good old 17th
and the wearin' of the green
will be in vogue.
This month brings to an end
the Saturday morning hockey
for the young lads, and Jack
Eisler informs me that the big
night = hockey trophies and
presentations -will be held on
March 24 (Saturday night), and
it is the one big night for the
kids. so let's keep the date in
mind and have a real big
crowd.
In closing, hope to sec you
at the meeting. More news on
the hockey night when it be-
comes available. So, until then,
"At the going down of the sun
and in the morning we shall
remember them."
Young woman (on sleigh -ride,
hinting): "Nobody loves me; and
my hands are cold."
Ohtruse swain: "Oh, that's all
right. God loves you and your
mother loves you ---and you can
sit on your hands."
Asked why he didn't invent
a story to tell his wife when
going home late, a husband ex-
plained: "If my wife's asleep I
won't need a story, and if she's
Wake I Won't get a Chance to
tell it."
Hamilton, visited over the week
end with the latter's parents,,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert McLean.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Sproule,. of
Exeter, were Sunday guests of
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Mellis.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant. Love, of
Caro, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Stew'
art Beattie, of Wingham, and
Bonny and Betty Dalrymple, of
Brucefield, visited Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McBride and
Sharon.
