Ceremonies in connec-
tion with the opening of
the new Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital will take -
place on Sunday after-
noon.
The building, which re-
places Scott Memorial
Hospital, was first occu-
pied on September 14th
last. Construction began
in July of last year.
Dr. John B. Neilson,
chairman of the Ontario
Hospital Services Commis-
sion, will officiate at the ,
ribbon cutting ceremony.
The provincial government
will be represented by Hon.
Chas, MaeNaughton,
on MPP and Minister of
Highways, while H o n.
Lawrence Pennell, Solici-
tor -General of Canada, will
represent the Federal gov-
ernment. Construction of
the hospital was made pos-
sible by grants from the
federal and provincial gov-
ernments and from. the
County of Huron.
During the short cere-
mony, plaques removed
from Scott Memorial and
relocated in the new hos-
pital, will be rededicated.

THE FORMER Scott Memorial Hospital pro-
perty, shown here, 'has been purchased by Mrs.
Jean Henderson, and now is operating as Seaforth
Manor Nursing Home. Erected about 85 years ago
by the late -D. D. Wilson, the building was con-
verted into a hospital in 1928 with funds left for
the purpose by William and Matthew Scott, of
Tuckersmith. In 1948 a new wing was added on
the west of the main building. Patients were Mov-
ed from the building into the new Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital on September 14th of this year.
FIRST SODS in the construction..of the new
Seaforth Community Hospital were turned on July
17, 1964, in a short ceremony at the site. In this
picture, taken at that time, are those who took part:
M. McKellar, honorary president, representing the
board ; Mrs. Fred Cosford, Hospital Auxiliary
president, representing the organization active in
the campaign; J. M. Scott, long-time board mem-
ber, representing the fund-raising campaign, and
Miss V. T. Drope, hospital administrator, represent-
ing the medical and nursing professions.

THE CAMPAIGN to raise funds for t11e new
'Seaforth Community Hospital, which is being open-
ed on Sunday, began in the fall of 1962. In • this
picture, taken at that time, Mrs. Joseph McConnell,
who was in charge of the women's canvass, points
out campaign targets to the members of the cam-
paign executive committee. Standing are J. E.
I{eating, chairman hospital groups; A. E. McCbn-
ney, treasurer ; W. E. Southgate, .men's eailvass ;
A. Y. McLean, board president, and K. ruse Mac-
Millan, campaign chairman. Seated are B. R.
Thomson, vice-chairman; Dr. P. L. Brady and J.

Memorial Plaques
Are Hospital Feature
A feature of the ceremonies
in connection with the opening
of the Seaforth Community
Hospital Sunday afternoon will
be the unveiling and rededica-
tion of memorial plaques re-
moved from Scott Memorial
Hospital and erected in the new
building.
These include . the plaque
commemorating William and
Matthew Scott, of Tuckersmith,
who by their bequest of forty
years ago, made possible Scott.
Memorial Hospital; and the sev-
eral smaller plates which com-
memorated gifts of individual
rooms in Scott Memorial. These

of the new hospital, recognizes
a contribution of $10,000.00
from the Women's Hospital
Auxiliary. It reads: "A gift of
the Women's Hospital Auxiliary
has contributed to the pr65i-
sion of the lobby area."

new hospital have been made
possible as a result of memor-
ial gifts, which are recognized
by small plaques, placed on the

THE HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR, Valeria T. Drope,
came to Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, in September
1949, to take over administrative duties. Miss Drope re-
ceived her training at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital,
Petrolia, and after graduating held a supervisory position
in her home training school before going to Windsor, where
for 10 years she was employed as Director of Nursing and
assistant to administrator at Metropolitan Geri'eral Hospital.
During these years she took advantage of courses in nursing
and hospital administration. She has held offices on the
executive of the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario
in Districts One and Tyvo.
