lent view of ;the surrounding

cation.. The rdiiupg area on the

design _utilizes the principal of
the double corridor plan which
in one nursing unit permits the
segregation of the medical and
surgical, maternity, children
and long-term patients by lo-
cating their rooms on either
side of a double corridor nurs-
ing work core. Each depart-
ment and service has been lo-
cated to afford the best pattern
of interdepartmental, horizon-
tal communication; each is in-
ternally designed to permit fu-
ture horizontal enlargement
without extensive renovation to
existing space. In other words,
a master plan has been devel-
oped for future expansion.
The selection of materials for
a hospital requires careful at-
tention to detail and to the pe-
culiar requirements of such a
building. Economy, perman-
ence, cleanliness and ease of
maintenance were the main con-
sideration in material selec-
tion.
Officials said that the layout
of the building and size of va-
rious areas, was the result of
long and careful development
with the hospital consultants,
and the Hospital Services Com-
mission requiring constant re-
vision of sketch plans. The re-
sult is a functional building,
carefully planned to meet the
needs of a growing community.

Seaforth Lions installed two
new members in a ceremony at
St. Thomas' Church Hall Mon-
day evening. They were Brian
Flannigan and John W. Talbot.
The meeting was in charge
of vice-presidents G. A. Whit-
ney and Orville Oke.
Commenting on the work of
the Lions as evidenced by the
Lions Park, Father H. J. Laragh,
the guest speaker, discussed
the motivation which prompted
such programs.
"Our motive must not be for
what we get out, but , rather
for what we give," he said, and
added that we must give our
actions meaning by the purity
of our intentions.
Rev. Harry Donaldson, in
thanking Father Laragh, said
the address was most timely.
Lionism, he said, provides an
opportunity to express Chris-
tianity among people of a com-
munity.
Details were worked out for
the annual visit to Huronview,
and for Lions assistance at the
Santa Claus parade on Satur-
daf.
