MERCHANTS' COMMITTEE
Seaforth Chamber of Commerce
A COMPLETELY equipped labortory is a feature of the new Seaforth
Community Hospital. Many procedures which until now could only be car-
ried out in Stratford or London, will be completed here. Not only does this
save time and money for the patient involved, but also permits a higher de-
gree of medical attention since there is now no delay in making available
the results of tests. Here, technician Marwood Gay, who comes to Seaforth
from Chatham, is at work in the new lab.
THE BRIGHT MODERN LAUNDRY in Seaforth Community Hospital
handles 450 pounds of dirty linen every day—more than a ton a week, for
52 weeks a year. The laundry comes from various departments in the hos-
pital into a soiled clothes area, and then through the washer. The clean lin-
en, ironed and ready for further use, is stored in a separate area until it
is required in the patient departments. Shown here are Ross Murdie and
Miss Rubie Comrie.

Huron

F r ing
Huron maintains its position
as one of the highly specialized
agricultural areas of the prov-
ince, agricultural representative
D. H. Miles said in his report
to county council. Statistics for
1964, prepared for exhibits. at
the International Plowing,
Match, indicate that Huron was
first in improved farm land,
with 637,068 acres, and had the
largest number of commercial
farms with 4,358. In total cat- '
tle, Huron was second with 197-
400; third in swine, and again
first in •.poultry. This county
was second in all field crops;
first for dry beans; third in '
corn for fodder; 'second with
mixed grain, flax and,barley.
"Our farmers are keen busi-'
nessmen and are producing at '
a very high level," his••report'
stated. "To keep it that way,
our people are very interested
in farm management, and in
the 1964-5 season there are
three courses being provided,
with an enrolment of 120 farm- I
ers in the three classes (Credi-I
ton., Clinton and Wingham)."
Mr. Miles congratulated Bob
Fotheringham, of Seaforth, on
winning the hay championship
again for Huron, and to Wilbur !
Keys, who was reserve cham-
pion and the champion of 1964.
Crops turned out much bet-
ter than expected earlier in the
year,' when rainfall was deci-
ent, the report stated. Too
much rain in the fall arrested
the bean harvesting, and about
8,000 acres t‘ ill have to be
plowed under or the beans fed
to livestock. There has been
difficulty in getting corn into
the silo at the desired mois-
ture level.
"Our 4.1-I leaders are the best
in the country," declared Don
Pullen, assistant representative,
addressing council on the jun-
ior extension program. This
year, 395 4-1-1 agricultural club
projects were started by boys
and girls in Huron, and 91.5%
were completed. Certificates
for voluntary leadership will be
presented to two 4.11 leaders for
five years' service; to two for
10 years, and seven for 15 years
or more.
Miss Diane Liddiard, home
economist, reported that the
4-11 Homemaking Club enroll-
ed 449 girls, of whom 423 (in
41 clubs) completed the course.

Topnotch feeds arb all specially formulated for Ontario con-
ditions. And not many other companies can say the same.
Most national brands are just too big to concentrate on
the needs of a single district, In a dairy program, for ex-
ample, they have to average out the requirements of cows
all across Canada; and then come up with a compromise
that is more or less acceptable to farmers everywhere.
We don't work that'vrva'. All Topnotch feeds and con•
centrates are designed strictly for Ontario and Ontario
only. This way we can take into account the type of

forage your cows will have, 'their milk production' and
weight — and then prepare the exact type of concentrate
they need for maximum growth and production. When
you use a Topnotch feed or concentrate, it's a lot more
likely to be exactly what your animals need. Which means
Daisybelle doesn't get cheated. Or overfed.
If you haven't tried Topnotch yet, why not start this
season? After all, there's nothing especially patriotic
about buying an Ontario feed for an Ontario cow. It's
just good business.
