Guests were "ladies from Brucefield, Chisel- hurst and the Lutheran and Evangelical Churches, Zurich. The program was presided ov- er by president Mrs. H. F. Cur- rie, who gave the invocation. Mrs. J. Goddard presided at the organ console. A fine devotion- al was given by Mrs. R. Rea - burn, who read passages of scripture on "Love one anoth- er" and "This is my command- ment unto you." Mrs. James Taylor gave an inspiring mes- sage on "How Do We Explain? What Does It Mean To Be a Christian?" prepared by Mrs. Dave Kyle. "I am come that ye may have life, and have it more abundanty. A Christian is alive; he has to expose himself to danger; we must -have a con- cern .for living. The Christian doesn't only worship Christ, he follows Him." A coronet solo by Bob Forrest was appreciat- ed, as was a vocal duet by Mrs. Pearl Passmore and Miss Mary Goodwin. Mrs. James McAllister intro- duced the guest speaker, Dr. E. A. McMaster, of Grand Bend, who spoke on his trip to Africa and showed colored movies tak- en while in different parts of the continent, showing natives, many wild animals, birds and beautiful Rowers, so different to Canada, Dr. McMaster said it is very difficult to get pictures of the natives, as they run and hide. Education is really the big need, he said. Mrs. Edison Forrest expressed thanks to the speaker and all who assist- ed with the fine evening. The meeting was in charge of the executive. Mrs. T. Sher- ritt and Mrs. R. M. Peck form- ed the. reception committee, and Mrs. Stanley Mitchell, Mrs. Edi- son Forrest, Mrs. V. M. Pyette and Mrs. Ross Forrest ushered. Mr. George Durham, London; Mr. Kenneth Studdard, Calgary; Miss Hazel Macdonald, retired Deaconess of New St. James' Church, London, and her sis- ter, Miss E. Macdonald, Gode- rich, and Mrs. Kay Bedard and children, London. Mrs. Archie Noakes under - ,went surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle attended the Sunday 9 o'clock concert in Thames Hall, UWO Sunday evening and heard Ar- thur Whittemore and Jack Lowe, duo -pianist and recording stars from New York City play- ing the works of Handel, Bach, Mozart and other great com- posers. Mr. James Drummond is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, where he will undergo surgery. Plan Hallowe'en Fete Hensel. Kinsmen are enter- taining. the children of Hensall and district to a Hallowe'en party Saturday night at the Arena. Judging of costumes; prizes, treats and a skating par- ty will feature the evening. Thrifty Kippenettes Meet The fifth meeting of the Thrifty Kippenettes was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Gem- ineii on Saturday and opened with the 4-H Pledge and the roll call, "A suggestion for im- proving my record book," was answerdd by 11 members. The secretary, Diane Stoll, read the minutes. The girls learned how to set in a sleeve, under -stitch- ing, and how to put on facing. The next meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Eyre, Saturday, Nov. 30. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell, Pauline and Troyann on Sunday were: Rev. John C. . Boyne, Exeter; DUBLIN Colleens Meet The sixth meeting of the Dub- lin Colleens was held at the home of the leader, Mrs. Friend and opened with the 4-H pledge followed by the secretary's and treasurer's report. The roll call, "What I made with Tolled oats," was answered by fifteen members. The members discussed with their leaders the buying and storing of flour, macaroni pro- ducts, bread and flour. Gayle Lannin and Linda Friend demonstrated how to make hot water gingerbread, and Gayle Lannin and Susan Friend demonstrated the mak- ing of lemon sauce. ACROSS 1 -Flesh 6. A large crowd attended the reception in Staffa Hall on Fri- day evening, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Terry Daynard on their marriage. A humorous address was read by David Kemp, and the presentation to Dorothy and Terry was made by Betty Ann Barker and Ron Agar.
