JOHNSON—RATHWELL
Baskets of gold and white
mums, ferns and candelabra
decorated the altar of Varna
United Church on Saturday,
October 16th, for the wedding
of Lois Yvonne Rathwell, RR 3,
Clinton, and Donald Allan John-
son, of Waterford. Mr. M. Mor-
rison, of . Varna, assisted by
Rev. H. Currie, of Hensall, of-
ficiated. The bride is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Rathwell, RR 3, Clinton, and
the groom is the son of Mr.
Allan Johnson, RR 3, Clinton,
and the late Mrs. Johnson.
Traditional wedding music
was played by Mrs: David Bey-
non, Kitchener, cousin of the
bride. The soloist, Mi,ss Joan
Sinclair, sang "The -.,Lard's My
Shepherd" and "0 ` Perfect
Love."
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a floor -
length gown of imported frost-
ed silk lagoda fashioned with
scoop neckline and lilypoint
sleeves. The controlled skirt
and neckline were enhanced
with Chantilly lace florettes,
embroidered with tiny seed
pearls. A lovers' knot bow dec-
orated the centre back at the
waist. A queen's crown of seed
pearls and crystals held the
four -tier French silk illusion el-
bow -length veil, and she carried
a cascade of gold amber roses
and stephanotis.
Maid of honor was Miss Joan
Rathwell, sister of the bride,
and bridesmaids were Mrs. Bill
Falconer and Miss Sandra Hu -
gill. Miss Beth Rathwell, sister
of the bride, was junior brides-
maid. They were dressed alike
in floor -length dresses of ro-
mance blue peau de soie, styl-
ed with scoop neckline, elbow -
length sleeves and 'full sheath
skit. A large flat bow at the
back neckline held a cardinal
train with fringed edge, which
Swept to the floor. They car-
ried bouquets ofwhite mums,
The groom was attended by
Mr. Mack McLean, Egmond°ville,
as groomsman, and guests were
ushered by Mr. Keith Ander-
son, London; Mr. Gerald John•
son, brother of the 'groom, and

For a reception held at the
Clinton Legion Hall, the bride's
mother received in a royal blue
sheath dress with white hat and
gloves, and the groom's step-
mother assisted in a jade green
two-piece dress with gold feath-
er trimmed hat and black ac-
cessories. A corsage of yellow
roses and gold mums completed
her ensemble.
For a wedding trip to the
Northern United States the
bride travelled in a black and
white tweed suit with fur -trim-
med sleeves. She wore white
hat and gloves, black patent ac-
cessories, and a corsage of red
roses.
Guests were present from
Windsor, Hamilton, Toronto,
London and Kitchener.
CARTER—CHAPPEL
Laura Chappel, daughter of
Mr.. and Mrs. Filmer Chappel,
of Cromarty, became the bride
of Donald Harold Carter, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carter,
of RR 6, St. Marys, in a cere-
mony held in Staffa United
Church on Saturday, Oct. 2, at
3 p.m. Rev. A. H. Daynard of-
ficiated. The church was decor-
ated with baskets of gold and
bronze mums.
The organist, Mr. David
Kemp, of Staffa, played tradi-
tional wedding music and, ac-
companied Doreen and Doris
Bingham, when they sang "The
Wedding Prayer."
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a floor -
length gown of white tradition-
al satin embroidered in pearls,
lace and rosebuds, with satin
train. A headdress of seed
pearls held her fingertip veil,
and she carried a bouquet of
red roses and stephanotis.
Miss Shirley Gardiner was
maid of honor, and bridesmaids
were Barbara Gardiner, of
Cromarty, and Ann Fischer, of
Guelph. They were dressed
alike in gold satapeau street -
length gowns, styled with scoop
neckline, cap sleeves and petal
skirt with a bow train. Their
flowers were bronze mums.
Kenneth Bearss, of St. Marys,
was groomsman, and David
Chappel, brother of the bride,
and George Baker, cousin of
the groom, were ushers.
A wedding dinner was held
in the church parlors following
the ceremony. The bride's
mother chose a pine green lace
colored dress with rose acces-
sories, -and the groom's mother
received in a blue wool cos-
tume . with white accessories.
Assisting at the dinner were
Patricia Drake, Marlene Baker,
Eleanor Kemp and Barbara
Hodspan.
For a wedding trip to North-
ern Ontario the bride wore a
navy suit with pink accessor-
ies. On their return they will
reside at RR 6, St. Marys.

Ann M. Dalton, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Dalton,

became the bride of Raymond
J. Robinet, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Isadore Robinet, of Riverside.
in a ceremony in St, Columban
Roman Catholic Church on Sat-
urday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. Rev.
L. J. Coughlin sang the Nuptial
Mass. Gold and bronze mums
decorated the church.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a floor-'
length gown of peau cle sole in
empire sheath style, fashioned
with lilypoint sleeves and a de-
tachable chapel train. A panel ,
of Chantilly lace adorned the
waist and hem of the skirt,
forming a mock slit at the
front. A double wedding ring
headband held her elbow -length
double -tiered silk illusion veil.
She carried a prayer book crest-
ed with white gardenias and
stephanotis.
Miss Dorothy Dalton, London,
sister of the bride, was maid
of honor, and bridesmaids were
Miss Marg Robinet, siste/ of
the groom, and Miss Jean Mel-
ady, London. They wore iden-
tical floor -length dresses of sea
green peau de soie, fashioned
with velvet bodices in empire
sheath style. Matching pillbox
hats with over the face' veils
and bouquets of bronze mums
encircled in gold roses com-
pleted their ensembles. They
also wore pearl necklaces and
earrings; gifts of the bride.
The groom was attended by
his brother, Peter Robinet, of
Duluth, Minnesota, as grooms-
man, and ushers were Jerome
Robinet, Tecumseh, cousin of
the groom; Jack Dalton, Strat-
ford, brother of the bride;'John
Langlois, of Toronto,, and Jer-
ry Eckert, of Owen Sound.
Altar boys were Gordon Moy-
lan, cousin of the bride, and
Wilfred Robinet, brother of the
groom. Mrs. V„1. lane was or-
ganist.
A reception and dinner were
h -Ad at Elm Haven Motel in
Clinton. The mother of the
bride received in , a cranberry
crepe sheath dress, fashioned
with Lace jacket. She wore
navy accessories and a corsage
of white mums and stephanotis.
The groom's mother chose a
turquoise crepe dress with
matching lace jacket, matching
feather hat and black accessor_

completed her ensemble.
For a wedding trip to Nia-
gara Falls the bride travelled

tess for a pleasant gathering
Friday evening, when the mem-
bers of Edelweiss Rebekah
Lodge and the Past Grands'
Club met for a social time to
honor a member, Mrs. Aaron
Gropp, on her recent marriage.
Mrs. Gropp and her husband
plan to leave s n to reside at
Montclair, Cal.

Mrs. Mae Dorrance being high
scorer, and Miss Eleanor Hen-
derson, low. '

On behalf of the gathering,
Mrs. Anne Henderson address-
ed the guest of honor, Mrs.
Gropp, and gifts were present-
ed by Mrs. McGonigle and Mrs.
James Rose. Mrs. Gropp ex-
pressed appreciation for the
kindly gesture.
