spending the past six weeks in
Vancouver, Victoria, White
Rock, Calgary and Regina, and
spent .a week with her aunt,
Mrs. Bella Smeltz, in Manitoba,
and. other places.

AUXILIARY MEETS
Mrs. Dale Nixon presided ov-
er the business period of the
Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary of
First Presbyterian Church Tues-
day evening in the new Cen-
tennial room. Mrs. Nixon gave
the Call to Worship and led in
prayer. Mrs: Mae Dorrance re-
ported -that six boxes of Christ-
mas cards and a layette had
been sent to Mrs. Dickson in.
Formosa. A bequest of $100.00
was received from the Isabel
Smith estate.
The collection was received
by Mrs. F. Smale and dedicated
by Mrs. Nixon. Miss Florence
Laidlaw read the treasurer's re -
'port and also read the Scrip-
ture lesson from the first chap-
ter of Matthew. Mrs. R. S. Hab-
kirk took charge and four read-
ings were given on "The Wo-
men of the Bible - Mrs. H.
Coleman, as Dorcas; Mrs. R. S..
Habkirk, as Pheobe; Mrs. Ada
Dale, as Elizabeth Fry. and Mrs.
B. Rivers, as Florence Night-
ingale.
Miss Carol Brown favored
with a piano instrumental. The
second part of the program was
concerned with newcomers to
the church and. was taken by
Mrs,. B. Rivers, Mrs. M. R. Ren-
nie, Mrs. D. Nixon and Mrs, R.
S. Habkirk. Mrs. Habkirk ex-
pressed courtesy remarks.

A quiet wedding was solemn-
ized on Saturday, October 2, by
Rev. D. 0. Fry, in First Presby-
terian Church, when Mrs. Geor-
gine Smith, of Seaforth, was
united in marriage to Mr. Aaron
G. Gropp, of Montclair, • Cali-
fornia. Their attendants were
Mr: and Mrs. W. C. Bennett, of
Clinton. The cquple will reside
in Montclair, California.
CLARKE—LAWSON
Wedding rings and vows were
exchanged on Saturday, Sept.
25, at 3 p.m., by Kathleen Mar-
garet Lawson and Elliott Wayne
Clarke, at the home of 'the
bride's parents. Rev. Ernest
Clarke, Toronto, brother of the
groom, officiated.
Parents .of the bride are Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Lawson, RR 6,
St. Marys, and the groom i
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin
E. Clarke, Seaforth.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a two-piece
.pink wool boucle suit with
white accessories and wore a
corsage of light blue carnations
and white roses.
Mrs. Jarhes Rohde, RR 2, Mit-
chell, sister of the bride, wore
a pink wool boucle suit, with
pink accessories and a white
miniature carnation corsage.
Mr. Donald Muegge, Seaforth,
was groomsman, and Edwin
Lawson, RR 6, St. Marys, broth-
er of the bride, ushered.
The bride's mother chose a
two-piece light blue dress with
white accessories and a,,cersage
of red carnations. The groom's
mother wore a light navy dress
with red accessories and white
carnations.
The reception was held at the
Dufferin Hotel, Centralia.
For a honeymoon to the Bruce
Peninsula, the bride wore a
pink wool shift with a gardenia
and white stephonatis corsage.
The couple will reside in Exe-
ter.

UCW Has Meeting
The Elimville UCW meeting
was held at the church Wed-
nesday. evening with Mrs. John
Coward and Mrs. Murray Cow-
ard as hostesses. Mrs. Elson
Lynn and Mrs. William Allen
had charge of 'the meeting, the
theme being "Thanksgiving.”
Mrs. Freeman •Horne gave a
piano instrumental. Rev. An-
drew Boa, of London, was the
guest speaker. Lunch was serv-
ed by .Group A.
Mrs. 'William Walters visited
Saturday with Mrs. Nelson
Clarke and Mrs. Blanche Pat-
terson at Farquhar.
Miss Susan Morgan, Thames
Road. spent Friday With her
grandmother, Mrs. Newton
Clarke.
Mr. Colin Gilfillan returned
to his home Tuesday after vis-
iting his brother, Jim, in High
River, Alberta.

noise and flashes. So she tip-

Show FeatUre it Fall Fair
Huron County Holstein breed-
ers used the new federal show
classification at their Black and
White day, held Sept. 24 at Sea -
forth, resulting in fewer head
shown, but producing a good
quality show. " Six exhibitors
brought out 39 animals, compar-
ed to 16 exhibitors and 85 head
a year ago.
George Hayden, Corrie, Ives
named premier breeder and pre-
mier exhibitor of the show.
Judge Glynn Coghlin, of At-
wood, placed the ribbons, with
the first prizes well divided be-
tween all six exhibitors.
Edward T. Bell, Blyth, show-
ed the senior and grand cham-
ps • ow, who stood first in
the class for cows three years
old in milk. She was Bell-ayre
Betsy, a straight topped cow.

The Elimville Youth Fellow-
ship Club met Sunday evening
at Thames Road Church, with
Miss Joyce Miners in charge.
Mrs. Jackson Woods gave the
topic. Scripture was read by

of London, visited Sunday with
Mrs. Newton. Clarke.
Mr. and Mrs. Colin Gilfillan
and Barbara visited Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith

who typed in well with the

The grand champion bull was
the junior champion, Mains
Award, who stood first in the
bull calf class for Alister Broad-
foot, Seaforth. He stood fourth
in a strong class at Western
London, earlier last month.
The reserve grand and reserve
junior stood next to Award in
class. He was Hol -den citation
Senator, shown by Fred J. Vod-
den & Sons.
The first prize yearling heifer
was the junior champion fe-
male. She was Meriacres Jana,
shown by Ross Marshall, Kirk -
ton. Next to Jana in class stood
the reserve junior champion,
Mains King Spring Alma, shown
by Alister Broadfoot.
Alister Broadfoot showed the
first prize senior get -of -sire, •a
group sired by Rosafe Citation
R., and also showed Mains
Lynne Butter Girl to first place
in the interbreed best udder
class.
George Hayden, Gorrie, show-
ed the winning progeny of dam,
a group from Banella Perfec-
tion Sharon, and took first prize
for the top tw.o and three-year-
old cow not in Milk. Ross Mar-
shall had the first prize breed-
er's herd and the winning year-
ling bull.
Fred Vodden & Sons took
first prize for a dam and one
progeny pair, and 'first prize in
the class for cows four -years -
old and over not in milk.
Elston Speiran, Brussels, had
the winning two-year-old in
milk, and Edward F. Bell show-
ed the first prize aged milking
cow.

DUBLIN
Colleens Have Meeting
' The second meeting of the
Dublin Colleens ,was held at
the home of the leader, Mrs.
Friend, and opened with the
4-H Pledge. The roll call, "My
record of cereal and bread for
one day," was answered by 16
members. 'Pattern For Eating"
and "A Look At Cereals" were
discussed. Mrs. Friend demon-
strated lemon creamy rice, and
Joan Annis, how to make fry-
ing pan cookies.

A reception was held in Staffa
Township Hall on Friday eve-
ning, honoring Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Agar, London, on their
recent marriage. Robin Day-
nard read an address of good
wishes, and David Kemp pre-
sented the bride and groom
with a cream can (with envel-
ope enclosed), on behalf of
their neighbors and friends.
Nelson Howe's orchestra provid-
ed the music for dancing.
