Celebrate Birthday '
A pleasant afternoon was
spent at the home of Mrs.
Grace Scott on Sunday, when
around fifty relatives gathered
to celebrate Mrs. Scott's 73rd
birthday. Many gifts were pre-
sented to the honored lady, and
a bountiful supper was served
by the family. Those in attend-
ance were from Niagara Falls,
Chatham, Essex, Mitchell, Staffa
and Cromarty.

The descendants of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Jaynes S'. Smith
held their third reunion at. the
Hanover Park on Sunday with
50 present.

"Order! Order!" exclaifned
claimed the chairman. "You
gentlemen seem to forget that
I am in the room."

dian Industries meeting of the
Staffa Women's Institute met
at the home of Mrs., Robert Mc-
Caughey on Wednesday eve:
ning. This was the .Backwards
meeting and it opened with
"God Save theQueen," follow-
ed by the courtesy remarks by
Mrs. Russell Worden. Mrs. Ger-
ald Agar had the special num-
ber and displayed six dishes
made with" apples. Everyone
was asked to sample the .dif-
ferent dishes and to take a
recipe of each, which Mrs.
Agar had prepared.
The president, Mrs. Cijrter
Kerslake, presided for the busi-
ness and Mrs. Cameron Vivian
and Mrs. Penelop Fell were ap-
pointed to look after the Christ-
mas and birthday boxes, to be
sent° to the Institute's adopted
ehild. Another Artex 'demon-
stration was discussed, also the
fall rally of the Perth District
Institute, which is to be held
in Stratford Coliseum in Octo-
ber. Staffa Institute is in charge
of the relishes for the noon
luncheon. The Farmstead Im-
provement Plan was discussed
and Mrs. Wilbur Glanville was
named as head of the commit-
tee. Miss Margaret Worden fav-
ored everyone with a solo. The
roll call was answered with all
displaying their most useful
help from the dime store.
Mrs. Walter O'Brien had the
topic and read some interesting
clippings on some new Cana-
dian products
ana-dian'products nowon the mar-
ket: .Three leaders and assist-
ants have been chosen for, the
fall 4-H homemaking project,
"The Cereal ' Shelf." They are
Mrs. Gerald Carey, Mrs. John
Wallace, Mrs. Bob Laing, Mrs.
Eldon Allen, Mrs. Russell Tay-
lor and Mrs. George Vivian.
Mrs. Wilbur Glanville was a
recent guest at the Sommerville -
Miller wedding. at Massey, Ont.
Miss Brenda Kerslake holiday-
ed last week in Seaforth with
Miss Joan Coleman.
Mr. and Mrs. John Temple-
man spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Templeman,
Maxwell.
