Guest speaker for the August
meeting of the Walton Worgen's
Institute was Mrs. Geo. Michie,
of Belgrave. Her subject was
"Education: Then and Now, and
the importance of teaching lit•
erature." The program was un-
der the leadership of Mrs. Jas.
Clarke and Mrs. Herb William -
Son.
A musical number was given
by lois Williamson, Shirley
Williamson and Isabel Pethick,
with' Eilene Williamson at the
piano. There were twenty-four
members and a number of visit'
tors present.
The president, Mrs. Roy Wil-
liamson, conducted the business.
A number of the 4 -II girls were
present and set pp . their dis-
play of flowers and vegetables
shown at .Achievement • Day in
Seaforth. Nellie Baan gave the
commentary ' on the exhibit,

Nelson Marks were appointed
leaders for the next 4-H course,
"Sleeping Garments." They
would like any girls wishing to
take .the course to let these
leaders know, before Sept. 6th.
The members are invited to

Appreciation was expressed
to those who took• cars to Gode-
rich Hospital. It was decided
to have a Fashion Show in the
spring. The rally of Huron Wo-
men's' Institutes is to be held
in Walton on October. 4th, at
9 a.m.
Mrs. Roy Williamson and Mrs.
Kenneth McDonald were ap-
pointed .to the area convention
in Guelph; October 12th and
12th. The motto, "Education is
the -machinery for success, while
personality is th'e oil," was giv-
en by Mrs. Herbert Williamson.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Kenneth; McDonald, Mrs. Geo.
Pollard, Mrs. Harold 'Bolger,
Mrs. George McCall and Mrs.
Clarence Martin.
Miss Linda Leeming has re-
turned to Mitchell after spend-
ing the last two weeks with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Leeming. '

The Walton Public- Library
will be closed September, 7th
and 14th. Misses Karen and
Connie Coutts have been ' in

eral weeks owing to the absence
of the librarian, Mrs. Torrance
Dundas.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Williams,

Mr. Tom Love has returned
home' after 'attending the On-
tario College of Education, To-
ronto.'

Randy Leeming, of Fordwich,
on Saturday; the occasion be-
ing Randy's ninth birthday.

The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father, and wore
an original floor -length gown of
white French peau de faille.
The bodice was highlighted by.
a scooped neckline and elbow -
length sleeves. A bia band
formed an empire waist from
which the gently controlled bell

Two Hollywood' producers,
looking for -talent, sat in front
seats watching the star of a
Las Vegas show,
"I wonder who made her
dress?" the first on,p asked.
"It's hard to sayy, the second
replied. "Probably. • the , police."
The prospective employer was
interviewing an applicant for a
stenographic job.
" . and you thoroughly
understand the importance of
good punctuation?" he asked.
"Oh, yes,' said the young
lady, "at my last place I al-
ways got there on time."
A farmer dreamed that he
was going up in a rocket to
orbit the earth. Looking at the
vast array of machinery, dials
and whatnots, he sighed: "I
just wish it wasn't all put to-

gowns of butterfly yellow silk
chiffon crepe featuring scooped
necklines, elbow -length• sleeves
and Guipure lace florets form-,
ed an. empire waist from which
fell unfitted sheath skirts. They
were matching yellow petalled
rosebud headpieces, touched
with flattering cocktail veils.
They carried cascades. of white
carnation •and ,cornflower:-

were Laird Norris, London,
brother of the groom, and Bruce
Wharram, Woodstock, brother
of the bride,
The mother of the bride re-
ceived guests, wearing a sheath
dress of mint green lace and a
hat of shirred ivory velvet. Her
corsage ways pale orange delight
roses. The grodm's mother as-
sisted in receiving, and. wore a
corsage of pink sweetheart ros-
o
es.
Mrs.. Gordon Wiseman was
the organist for the ceremony,
and Miss Rosalyn Hargreaves,
the soloist, favored with "0 Per-
fect Love" and "The Wedding
Prayer."
For travelling to Eastern On=
tario, the bride chose a petal
pink crepe sheath dress with
mink -tone accessories. Her cor-
sage was a gardenia, encircled
with pink sweetheart rosebuds.
The couple will make their
home in Woodstock.
Guests were present. from To-
ronto, London, Leamington,
Wheatley, Seaforth, Erin, Woad -
stock, Kitchener, Detroit and
Wyoming.
Parties in honor of the bride
were given by the teaching .staff
of Carmichael School, Kitchen,
er, where Miss Wharram taught
last year; by Miss Sharon Wett-
laufer, and Mrs. William Whar-
ram.
